More than 100 people witnessed what may be an exorcism in a well known temple yesterday. A young attractive woman had scrambled into the well known Kwan Im Temple at Waterloo Street yesterday (10 feb) at noon, complaining of being "cursed".
Eyewitnesses say the woman, a Vietnamese, knelt in the centre of the red carpet in the temple's main hall and began to pray fervently. The woman, claiming to be under a "love spell", began to kowtow and even began wailing for the next two hours while begging for help.
Five temple priests approached her and performed what appeared to be an exorcism before a crowd of about 100 curious onlookers. The woman was said to be spasming and shaking her head violently, until the" exorcism ritual" was completed about four hours later.

I've got a couple of stories to share, some told to me and just a couple that happened to me.
Here's one that was related to me one boring night during outfield.
My platoonmate has a friend, A, who had one of his arms amputated at the elbow, right or left I don't really remember, and it doesn't really matter anyway.
During his NS days, A had a good friend, B, who was his section mate, and they lived pretty close to each other, so A normally got a ride home from B on his motorbike when they booked out together.
One Thursday night, A woke up in the middle of the night, and saw one of the "good brothers" (a spirit) standing over B's bed, staring intently at B.
Freaked out, A covered his head with his blanket and pretended to go to sleep, uneasily waiting for dawn to approach and thaw the freezing chill he felt up his spine.
On Friday, during bookout day,A gets a ride home from B as usual. A had been struggling whether or not to tell B about what he saw last night, but decided not to. What B didn't know wouldn't hurt him, right?
The entrance/exit to their camp leads to a T junction, where they normally turned right to head home. Approaching the T, A could see a lorry trundling along its way on the right. Strange thing was, B did not slow down.
While executing the turn, they were hit by the lorry. B was killed and A landed in hospital a mangled wreck, where they had to amputate his arm.
A had another friend, C, who visited him in hospital. C's mother was a "dang kee" (a temple medium), and naturally was well informed in matters regarding the spiritual world.
After A told C about the apparition he saw that night, C said "You should have told him. The 'good brother' wasn't trying to harm B. Rather, it was kind of saying 'Hmmm.... This guy would be joining us soon.'. By telling B, you would have broken the premonition."
A chain of events might have been set in motion, where B might not have rode his bike and not gotten into the accident in the end.
The Chinese vampire differs greatly from its western cousins. In Chinese mythology, all empires originated from one of the 12 gods, which came from 12 drops of blood from PANGU, the great god who created sky and earth. Chinese vampire, according their different growing stage, can be divided into six levels.
Chinese Vampire Level 1
When corpse entered suitable vampire-breeding location for 1 month. It began growing white hair and also be called white vampire. At this stage, vampire can not move quickly, can easily be killed. Level 1 vampires dread sunshine, fire, water, rooster, dog and let alone human beings.
Personally, I think level 1 vampire can serve as a meek pet.
Chinese Vampire Level 2
If a level 1 vampire have plenty of blood of ox or sheep, years later, white hair peels off and a layer of black hair will emerge. Level 2 vampire is still afraid of sunlight and fire. But a vampire at this period can boldly confront rooster and dog. Level 2 vampire will avoid human beings, and only drink people’s blood once victim fall asleep.
Chinese Vampire Level 3
After a half decade of blood drinking and white hair falling off, a vampire can change from an award movement to a dangerously swift bouncing pattern and no longer dreads any domestic animals, with only cats being an exception that can still warn humans of the presence of a Level 3 vampire by growling at it. It appears cats can provide limited help fighting against Level 3 creature.
Chinese Vampire Level 4
Through hundreds of years of growth, a vampire enters its Level 4, at this level a vampire has the the ability to fly, a dangerous skill that means the creature can jump onto a roof effortlessly and drink a man’s blood unnoticed.
Chinese Vampire Level 5
A level 5 is almost demigod, and he can transform into forms of any creature to confuse human beings, fly up into heaven to slaughter dragon and even gang up with plague GOD to bring disease to human.
Chinese Vampire Level 6
At this phase, vampire is more of a god than a demon, for level 6 vampire have the guts and terrifying ability to challenge any God in heaven. A legend goes that once there appeared an only Level 6 vampire in China, and fortunately, it soon be subdued by Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and served as his saddle horse for ever.
The Russian Navy reports that UFOs are technologically surpass anything humanity ever built, reports the Svobodnaya Pressa news website. The records dating back to soviet times were compiled by a special navy group collecting reports of unexplained incidents delivered by submarines and military ships.
The group was headed by deputy Navy commander Admiral Nikolay Smirnov, and the documents reveal numerous cases of possible UFO encounters, the website says. Vladimir Azhazha, former navy officer and a famous Russian UFO researcher, says the materials are of great value.
The human DNA is a biological Internet and superior in many aspects to the artificial one. The latest Russian scientific research directly or indirectly explains phenomena such as clairvoyance, intuition, spontaneous and remote acts of healing, self healing, affirmation techniques, unusual light/auras around people (namely spiritual masters), mindâ¬"s influence on weather patterns and much more According to there findings, our DNA is not only responsible for the construction of our body but also serves as data storage and communication.
The Russian linguists found that the genetic code - especially in the apparent "useless" 90% - follows the same rules as all our human languages. To this end they compared the rules of syntax (the way in which words are put together to form phrases and sentences), semantics (the study of meaning in language forms) and the basic rules of grammar. They found that the alkalines of our DNA follow a regular grammar and do have set rules just like our languages.
Therefore, human languages did not appear coincidentally but are a reflection of our inherent DNA. As an example from nature, when a queen ant is separated from her colony, the remaining worker ants will continue building fervently according to plan. However, if the queen is killed, all work in the colony stops. No ant will know what to do. Apparently, the queen transmits the "building plans" even if far away - via the group consciousness with her subjects. She can be as far away as she wants, as long as she is alive. In humans, hyper-communication is most often encountered when one suddenly gains access to information that is outside one's knowledge base.
Such hyper-communication is then experienced as inspiration or intuition (also in trance channeling). The Italian composer Giuseppe Tartini, for instance, dreamt one night that a devil sat at his bedside playing the violin. The next morning Tartini was able to note down the piece exactly from memory. He called it the Devil's Trill Sonata.
CAMBRIDGE, MA.- Harvard University educated archaeologist and director of the Paleontological Research Corporation, Dr. Joel Klenck, surveyed and completed a preliminary analysis of two sites on Mount Ararat in Turkey discovered by a Kurdish guide, Ahmet Ertugrul. “The research areas are noteworthy”, states Klenck, “and comprise a large wood structure and cave with an archaeological assemblage that appears to be mostly from the Late Epipaleolithic Period.” These assemblages at other sites in the Near East have calibrated radiocarbon dates between 13,100 and 9,600 B.C.
Located at elevations above 4,200 meters on Mount Ararat and covered by layers of ice and stones, he states: “The wood structure shows various states of preservation and exhibits a wide array of plant materials including structures made of cypress and one room with a floor covered by chickpea seeds.” Klenck additionally notes, “I was most impressed by the artifactual assemblage, particularly four stone bowls, grinding or hammer stones, lithic cores and debitage.”
It also appears that the wood construction was visited in later periods. Ceramic bowls from Chalcolithic (5,800-3,000 B.C.) and Bronze Age (3,000-1,200 B.C.) periods were placed in or near the structure. He adds, “These artifacts most likely represent brief visits to the site during later periods since these bowls differ from the Epipaleolithic remains that comprise most of the assemblage.”
Klenck reports, “The surface scatter of the wood above the large structure is 121.1 meters in length and 23.8 meters in width. The construction is at least 5.2 meters deep and several measurements of the exterior walls exhibit angles moving inward toward the base of the edifice. Also, there are stair-like features that descend through the middle of the multi-storied structure and mortise-and-tenon construction.” He notes, “The structure is buried under tons of stones and ice and most of the edifice remains unexplored.”
Michael Tellinger shows off what could be one of the best pieces of evidence that there were giants on Earth a long, long time ago. Geologists have marvelled at this giant foot print in rough granite, about 4 feet long. Some still say that it is a natural erosion pattern.
Zombies, walking corpses and the power of giving life to the dead are things from fiction, right? Well, what do you think about this picture?
From what I could find, this picture was first present in this indonesian blog mamasa-online.blogspot.com... wich talks about a personal story involving the walking corpses of Tojara, Indonesia. But only recently the picture is gaining attention, making presence in many blogs and forums with the following text:
Only in Indonesia (especially Toraja), a corpse is usually being carried up to the grave, but in Toraja, the corpse is woken up letting it walk to its grave (is rarely performed anymore)
The corpse is woken up using black magic. This is done because in Toraja the graves/cemetries is placed above limestones mountains.
The corpse walks by itself, and its guided by an expert in black magic behind it. But there is one prohibition, the corpse shouldn’t be appointed, once pointed, the corpse falls down and isn’t able to walk again.
Oregon note: The following story has been edited for correctness and clarity.
This is a reader contribution from our reader, Patricia, who can be reached at email@example.com
This is an interesting account of how a voice warned Patricia of an hostile intruder. Was it divine intervention or help from the nether world?
I am now 55 years old, mother of 4, and this is an absolutely true story of an event that happened to me fifty years ago at age 15. Due to family problems, I was forced to run away from home and moved from place to place, wherever I could find shelter in my hometown. I did volunteer work for a local community program who eventually purchased an old house for the purpose of making a new community center and health clinic.
Prior to the work being done to renovate it, I was secretly given permission to stay there at night. It was an old house, formerly the home of a man and woman who owned a liquor store on the property next door. The wife of liquor store owner had been killed in a home invasion robbery and consequently the husband sold the property and store as a result. I was too young to know of the incident, or when it occurred, I simply learned of this through rumors.
So each night I would go to the property to sleep, as it had a furnished bedroom and oddly enough i seemed to feel comfortable there. One thing I did notice is that my bedroom always seemed warm and cozy even though it was the dead of winter and the home did not have any heat. The electricity was working because work was about to be started on the building but I also noticed that my bedroom seemed highly illuminated, overly bright.
One night I arrived to bed down accompanied by a friend who offered to stay with me until I was ready to go to sleep. After a short while, my friend left and I started to go to sleep. All of a sudden I heard a frantic voice say "get up and check the door". Being rather sleepy, I dismissed it at the time thinking it was my imagination. I do not know if I heard it with my ears, or in my mind. At which point, the voice became more frantic saying "hurry, hurry, he's getting in, hurry check the doors". This time I sprung from the bed without much thought of where the voice came from and ran down the staircase in total panic and fear.
As if being lead by someone, I ran straight into the kitchen, and to my horror, I saw a hand reaching through a broken window pane, attempting to undo a chain latch lock on the inside. Without thinking I reached down on the floor and picked up a piece of metal piping that was left there from renovations being done on the room, and proceeded to beat the hand that was reaching in. I hit it several times before the person managed to pull it out because the window pane was very small and he had difficulty in his panic, removing his hand. I heard the person yell and run off.
As the person passed by a floodlight in the rear parking lot, I recognized him as the only known heroin addict in our town. I had difficulty sleeping that night but eventually I was overcome by the warmth of my room and a feeling of comfort and safety and drifted off to sleep. I did not believe in ghosts but I have no other explanation for the woman's voice that franticly urged me on. I think she it was the wife of the liquor store owner and did not want what happened to her to happen to me. I just know that I will be forever grateful to whoever or whatever it was.
Paranormal researcher Arwin John's take on spirits is that spirits emit electromagnetic waves that could be detected with specially designed instruments.
A firm believer in science, and a brave man, Arwin who is the founder of Malaysian Paranormal Research, tells Yahoo! Malaysia of his own encounter with the spiritual kind at a Chinese cemetery in Gunung Rapat. During an investigation in the middle of the night, he saw a little girl who vanished into thin air once he realised she wasn't human.
He now works with an affiliate in Germany, studying the phenomenon on how spirits exist and how he and the team could make contact with the afterlife.
"We find that when spirits die, some times they are still anchored to their physical memory," he explained, which is a likely explanation of one of the more famous ghosts in Malaysia, the spirit of Japanese soldiers.
The ghost of the Japanese soldier or Hantu Jepun refers to wandering spirits of dead Japan military personnel, who was once stationed in Malaysia, and around the Southeast Asian region during World War 2.
These spirits are often seen wandering in full uniform, bearing arms or swords, or in a more terrifying state - walking around headless or carrying its head. The spirits tend to appear in buildings, cemeteries and hostels which were once used as Japanese bases.
At times, sightings of the Hantu Jepun are described as scenes of Japanese soldiers lining up in formation or marching to attention.
This explains the sounds of marching boots in most, if not all of the Hantu Jepun stories shared by the Malaysian community as well as those who encounter the spirits all across Southeast Asia.
Some people believe that the appearance of this ghost evokes feelings of loneliness, death, cruelty, torment and fear.
MYSTERY continues to surround Kampung Penan Muslim Batu 10 along the Bintulu-Miri highway in Sarawak.
Not many from outside the state know of a local legend, whose origin has been swallowed by the mists of time. But villagers are not averse to telling anyone willing to listen about the story of Batu Rasak.
The villagers believe that they are the descendants of a cursed lineage. Their forefathers had apparently defied the gods centuries ago.
Although most of the villagers have since embraced Islam, they remain fearful of the curse and would speak of it only in hushed tones.
A long time ago, it was said that their ancestors had feasted on forbidden meat. As such, calamity befell the village; everything and everyone was cursed and turned into stone.
"According to the stories, our ancestors feasted on terrapin and squirrel meat. They even compared which meat was the best and ridiculed the animals. Then all of a sudden, the clear skies turned dark. There were strong winds, lightning and thunder, and heavy rain. Not long later, everything turned into stone. The stones are now collectively called Batu Rasak," said village chief Raini Piee, 43.
The story of Batu Rasak has been passed down from one generation to the next among the Penans in the village.
The stones are located not far from the village and residents believe that they are still guarded by the old gods.
No one in the village dares to set foot near the stones nor utter a single word there as they believe it is taboo and that bad things would happen to them if they do.

VIDEO: GRAINY footage purports to show the elusive beast in Lagarfljót lake
The animal – thought to have mostly died out roughly 4,000 years ago – was apparently filmed wading through a river in the freezing wilds of Siberia.
The jaw-dropping footage was caught by a government-employed engineer last summer in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug region of Siberia, it is claimed.
BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese authorities are investigating eggs which bounce after being boiled and may make men sterile, state media reported on Friday, in the latest food safety scare to hit the country.
The eggs, being referred to in Chinese media and on the internet as "rubber eggs" or "ping pong eggs," are too hard to eat, raising suspicion they are fake, after appearing in "small numbers" in markets nationwide, Xinhua news agency said.
"The investigation is designed to appease consumers' concerns, after some suspected they bought artificial eggs made by unconscientious traders seeking profits," it reported.
However, the eggs' hardness could be a natural occurrence, caused by hens consuming large amounts of food enriched with a compound called gossypol, which binds to protein in egg yolks, Xinhua said.
Chinese scientists are investigating a bizarre case in which a cockerel apparently started laying eggs after all the hens were eaten.
The birds owner Huang Li, 47, kept the rooster together with seven hens on his small farm at Chumiao village, Mengcheng city, in central China's Anhui province.
He said that his family had been gradually eating the chickens over winter until only the rooster was left - and he was amazed when he went into the cage the next day to discover an egg.
He said: "I thought it was a joke and that one of my neighbours had put the egg in there for fun. But the next day there was another egg and so on the third day I waited - and was amazed when I saw that the rooster laid an egg."
Above is a UFO video taken in Japan. It looks like perhaps a balloon is slowly falling. Yet it descends in a strange undulating serpentine manner. Instead of a UFO, could this be a video of a Chinese/Japanese dragon? In folklore the Chinese dragon flew thru the skies and was considered to rule over the weather. Perhaps unexplained lights in the sky are not extraterrestrial craft, but dragons! Watching this video, imagine it as a celestial Japanese dragon. I can understand why people living hundreds of years ago may have believed that strange lights in the sky were indeed dragons.
As for real life dragons, they once filled the earth as flying dinosaurs. Some believe these flying monsters still existed until just recently and were responsible for the American Indian legend concerning thunderbirds. Chinese dragons, thunderbird or UFOs, people saw strange flying shapes in the sky. How we interpret flying anomalies depends on the current culture.
Cloaked in secrecy for over 400 years, the State Oracle of Tibet has been a strange and mystical aspect of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. This ancient spirit, which has inhabited a succession of thirteen human mediums, advises the Dalai Lama on matters of public and religious policy. To witness the eerie spectacle of a medium entering a trance state and being possessed by the Oracle is to confront profound questions about the very nature of human consciousness.
With permission from the Dalai Lama that had never been granted before, The Oracle explores the ancient practice of consulting spirits.
Mythical animals only existed in folklore but do you know if there are some animals that have a big similarity with these animals? Here, we take a look at some animals from Indonesia that resemble mythological animals.

1. Birds of Paradise / Phoenix
The Phoenix was known as one of the most famous mythical birds in the world. In the Egypt mythology called phoenix as the sacred fire birds that burned itself by fire and reborn from the flames. Usually depicted with gold and red feathers, some people believe that the Phoenix is an immortal mythical birds. The Birds of Paradise which are found on Papua Indonesia have a similar shape and color with Phoenix, Birds of Paradise are known for their beautiful elongated feathers with red or yellow colors.
2. Komodo Dragons / Dragons
Komodo Dragons are similar to Dragons in medieval paintings but Komodo Dragons do not spit flames. Dragons are large, mythical beasts. They are shaped like a reptile and can spit flames through their breath.
3. Pygmy Tarsiers / Gremlins
On the island of Sulawesi, there's are Pygmy Tarsiers, one of the most endangered primates and the smallest primates in the world. This animal has large eyes and ears similar to Gremlins. Pygmy tarsiers are small and weighs only 50 grams. These animals live in trees and nocturnal. Gremlin are small green monsters. Gremlins are very annoying and consumes electrical energy.
4. Dugong / Mermaid
Mermaids were also known as famous mythical creatures that has a human head and body but has a fish tail. Meanwhile, a Dugong is a mammal that can be found in the shallow waters of Indonesia, especially the Eastern region. This Dugong does not have a human body like Mermaid. Dugong is a marine mammal that is herbivorous.
5. Rhino / Unicorn
The biggest resemblance of these two creatures was their single horn. In the 13th Century Marco Polo said in his writings that he seen a black unicorn in the Indonesian archipelago. It turns out that Marco Polo saw a rhino instead of a unicorn. In Ujung Kulon there are one-horned Rhinos as well as the Unicorn has one horn on his head. The Javan Rhino is the largest animal in Java. It can weigh up to 1.5 tons.
6. Proboscis Monkey / Tengu
Japan people who have seen this Proboscis Monkey said that this animal has a big resemblance to the Tengu, a famous Japanese mythical creature. Proboscis Monkeys are apes who have a long nose that are different from other apes in general. Because of this long nose, the Japanese call them Tengu Monkeys. The difference is the proboscis monkey didn't has a wing like the Tengu. The Tengu itself has a red face and an unusually long nose. Tengus also have a pair of wings, legs and hands and nails that are very long.
Black magicians, demons, spirits, jinn, afreet — the supernatural pantheon continues to haunt the human psyche. Take an artist like Lady Gaga — the paranoid songstress invested thousands of dollars in specter-sensing technology and employed a team of Ghostbusters from New York to scan all hotels and concert venues before she checks in. For those of us who can’t afford such frivolous expenditures, paranormal activity is accepted as a regular part of daily life.
However, the same cannot be said about the Rawalpindi-Islamabad residents. Believe it or not, a team of specialists operate between the twin cities, desi-ghostbuster style, performing exorcisms in person, online and via phone by appointment only. Calling themselves ‘The Nightwalkers’, they remove black magic and conduct banishings free of charge, as a gesture of goodwill.
The two co-founders, Farrukh Naik and Hasan Kazmi, are IT men by day and purveyors of the paranormal by night. They’ve been taking hundreds of cases since January 2011 and launched their online forum a month later, replete with pictures and videos of their field investigations.
Regarding the use of technology, Naik says, “Hassan and I are mostly interested in the scientific side of things; we use high-tech equipment to collect our field data like change in temperature, voice recordings and visuals, while our resident spiritual adviser Ahmed Raza Qadri performs the exorcisms and casts out troublesome spirits or demons.”
It’s important to note that these guys use the latest gear to supplement their investigations — the sort of Electro Magnetic Fields metres and thermal imaging cameras are usually seen on late night international reality TV shows like “Ghost Hunters”.
Naik recounts his more memorable cases with vivid and macabre detail. For instance, in one particular haunted apartment in Rawalpindi, he felt, “an intense pressure in the ears and ear drums, which proceeded to get worse until the spirit left.” But Naik’s most startling investigation involved an Emily Rose-style possession of a young girl from Lalazar who had a weird voice and was yelling and spitting.
He makes another observation, which bears strong implications for the realm of jinnat. The beings possessing the girl were Christian, implying that jinn, in human fashion, obey certain spiritual mores and come from a variety of faiths.
In the curious case of the Lalazar girl, Naik’s crew actually healed one of the jinns inhabiting the girl, who helped them find the taweez that bound the jinn to the girl. “You have to understand that in most of the cases, the jinn are bound to their victim against their will through black magic,” explains Naik. With supernatural assistance, the team was able to locate the charm buried deep in the girl’s pillow — a picture of it can be found on the Nightwalkers’ website.
Naik stresses that jinn and their like are all creatures of God and most don’t interact with human beings unless they’re compelled to through black magic or if they fall in love with humans. “We’ve actually dealt with cases of supernatural sexual abuse, mostly with women who come under the jinn’s sway,” he says.
Naik leaves us with a public message and a warning, “People need to know that some things come only from God. We’re tired of dealing with cases in which people are worried that they’re not getting married or having children because of black magic.” He adds, “I want to warn everyone that they should never seek help from people who charge money, no matter how credible they might seem. They end up sending their own jinn to the client in order to squeeze out more money.”
A 38-year-old Indonesian security guard has been charged with assault after kicking a 20-year-old woman in the face after mistaking her for a predatory ghost.
The guard was on duty in Bandung, Java, when "suddenly a figure, who was sitting on the floor and clad in white with hair covering the face, moved slowly in a weird way toward the elevator", according to the Jakarta Post.
The guard "sensed a threat to himself and the others in the elevator" and kicked the ghost to the floor "so that everyone ... could run and save themselves," the security officer's lawyer told the Jakarta Post.
But guard Sunarya's seemingly noble deeds have landed him more punishment than accolades, as the "ghost" turned out to be the 20-year-old daughter of a coal businessman who was in the hotel playing a "ghost trick" for a friend's birthday. She was later hospitalised for a bruised face and broken tooth.
Sunarya now faces charges of assaulting the girl, who was dressed as suster ngesot, a "crawling nurse ghost".
In a bizarre incident a 72-year-old woman, who was declared 'dead', started breathing when her relatives were about to burn her 'body' on the funeral pyre on Wednesday. The woman is presently ailing since she has a severe blood clot in her brain and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
The incident took place at a village in Nawalgarh district of Jaipur. Hundreds of relatives of Magan Kanwar, a native of Dadi Ka Phatak in Jhotwara, had gathered and were preparing for the woman's funeral. When some women were performing the ritual of bathing the 'dead body', they realized she was breathing. Immediately after, her son Surendra Singh Rathore took her to hospital and in the afternoon she was admitted to another private hospital.
Divulging the details of the incident, Rathore said, "My mother had slipped in the bathroom on January 23. We took her to a private hospital in the city. The hospital authorities on the morning of January 24 declared her dead. We asked them to check again since she was on a ventilator and the doctors had diagnosed her with brain haemorrhage." Rathore said when the doctors verbally declared her dead, the family without seeking any death certificate took her to the native village for funeral on Wednesday.
"At the village while performing some rituals we found my mother was breathing and alive. Later, a doctor there told us everything, including her heart beat and blood pressure, was normal. The doctors had said she was unconscious due to severe blood clot in her brain and so we brought her here," Rathore added. He claimed the hospital that had declared his mother dead did not gave them a valid death certificate. "I did not get it since I was disturbed at the news of her death."
More and more victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake are reporting that they are suffering from visions of ghosts and other supernatural sensations.
The disaster brought many people face-to-face with death and many believe the apparitions may be a manifestation of their emotional wounds.
As Japan has no governmental office that deals with this kind of issue and many people feel uncomfortable consulting family members, leaders from several different religious organizations in Japan have come together to provide emotional and mental support for the victims.
An elderly couple living in temporary housing in Sendai, the largest city in Tohoku to be impacted by the disaster, went to visit to a local Jōdo Buddhist temple earlier this month. After exchanging greetings with head priest Mizuki Nakamura, the couple confessed they were troubled by something they felt was supernatural and they didn’t know who to turn to for help.
“There’s someone at the temporary housing grounds. We think that something may have happened there,” said the husband.
Mr. Nakamura offered to hold a mass for the dead at the grounds and after completing the ritual the couple thanked him with an expression of relief.
Many victims report seeing more vivid images, such as eyeballs appearing in puddles of water or people walking on the surface of the ocean.
Others say that they’ve been visited by the ghosts of missing family members, begging to find their bodies and give them a proper burial.
However, like the elderly couple in Sendai, many of these people don’t know how to cope with such problems.
The Sendai branch of the United Christ Church (UCC) in Japan currently provides emotional support services regardless of religious affiliation. “The government can’t do anything about it and it’s difficult to discuss the issue with family or other people in the neighborhood,” says Reverend Naoya Kawakami.
Here are the three case studies the researchers observed in southern Haiti between 1996-1997:
FI was around 30 years old when she died after a short febrile illness and was buried by her family the same day in the family tomb next to her house. 3 years later she was recognised by a friend wandering near the village; her mother confirmed her identity by a facial mark, as did her 7-year-old daughter, her siblings, other villagers, her husband, and the local priest. She appeared mute and unable to feed herself. Her parents accused her husband of zombifying her (he was jealous of her after she had had an affair). After a local court authorised the opening of her tomb, which was full of stones, her parents were undecided whether to take her home and she was admitted to the psychiatric hospital in Port-au Prince [...]
WD, 26 years old, was the eldest son of an alleged former tonton macoute (secret policeman) under the Duvaliers' regime. The father was our principal informant together with WD's mother and other villagers. When he was 18, he suddenly became ill with a fever, "his eyes turned yellow," he "smelled bad like death," and "his body swelled up". Suspecting sorcery, his father asked his older brother to obtain advice from a boko [or sorcerer], but WD died after 3 days and was buried in a tomb on family land next to the house of a female cousin. The tomb was not, as was customary, watched that night. 19 months later, WD reappeared at a nearby cock fight, recognised his father, and accused his uncle of zombifying him [...]
MM, aged 31, was the younger sister of our principal informant who described her as formerly a friendly but quiet and shy girl, not very bright. At the age of 18, MM had joined some friends in prayers for a neighbour who had been zombified; she herself then became ill with diarrhoea and fever, her body swelled up and she died in a few days. The family suspected revenge sorcery. After 13 years, MM had reappeared in the town market 2 months before we met her, with an account of having been kept as a zombi in a village 100 miles to the north, and having borne a child to another zombi (or perhaps to the boko). On the death of the boko, his son had released her and she travelled home on foot.
The researchers diagnosed the first patient with catatonic schizophrenia, the second with epilepsy and brain damage (presumably from oxygen deprivation), and the third with potential fetal alcohol syndrome.
To makes matters even curiouser, DNA testing revealed that the second and third patients were cases of mistaken identity. The researchers posit that reported cases of zombification have less to do with mind-controlling neurotoxins and more to do with untreated or undiagnosed mental illness and brain disorders.
Do you have an explanation for all of the strange sounds in the sky that have been documented all around the world lately? Over the past few weeks, Twitter, Facebook and the blogosphere have been absolutely buzzing about these strange sounds. At the moment, they remain a great mystery because nobody can seem to explain them. Some are calling them "apocalyptic sounds". Whatever they are, they are very loud.
Those that have heard the unexplained sounds in the sky compare them to the rumbling of a train, a sonic boom or a trumpet. In this article, we will discuss some of the most popular theories about these sounds, but the truth is that right now nobody really knows what is going on. But what we can say is that this is truly a global phenomenon. Strange sounds in the sky are being recorded literally all over the world and are being uploaded to YouTube at a very rapid pace. If someone was trying to fake this, it would be quite difficult to get people all over the planet to cooperate. In some instances, entire communities have heard these sounds.
So it appears as though something is definitely happening. Perhaps there is a very basic explanation for all of this. Perhaps there is not. In any event, the fact that we simply do not know what is going on is rather unsettling.
