Avatar : What you would be if you weren't you?

Author: Nutter

Have you ever thought what you would BE if you WEREN'T YOU? If you weren't stuck in this physical body that you were assigned to upon birth? What if you could really choose your gender, nationality and even which planet you live on?

AVATAR (2009), the latest second highest-grossing film of all time world over, losing only to the impressionable 1997 classic movie, Titanic, is one such science-fiction epic movie that really captures that part of a person. AVATAR is basically a Hindu term for "appearance", "incarnation" or "manifestation", which a deliberate descent of a deity from heaven to earth. In the box-office hit movie, the protagonist, Jake Sully, a paraplegic US Marine, takes the place of his deceased Scientist twin brother, in an important mission on the Planet Pandora in the year 2154. His avatar was in the form of the race, Na'vi, a blue-skinned species of sapient humanoids who are much stronger and taller than humans.

Now let's come back to the question: What if we humans really do have a consciousness, a soul, that can transcend all space and time and can really reach out to the aliens out there? What if we really do have the ability to learn and speak in their language(s) and absorb their culture(s)? Will that really make us more universal beings? Or are there some ugly things as humanoids that we need to change about ourselves first before we can reach out to them? Finally, is our unifying language in the galaxy LOVE as what is taught in many good religions?

We welcome all feedback and strongly encourage in-depth discussion on this topic during this mid-week!
