Something Strange spotted in Gobi desert

What is China up to? An extremely odd collection of objects has been discovered in the Gobi Desert, close to the border with Mongolia – and nobody is quite sure exactly what they are.

The objects were spotted using Google Maps and resulted in a substantial amount of speculation – especially among conspiracy theorists. Could we be looking at China’s equivalent of Area 51? Or signs of an ancient lost civilization? Or some form of guidance system for alien spacecraft? Or …?
