Big Spider Discovered in Disappearing Sand Dunes

by Life Science

With a lanky legspan of up to nearly a half foot, a newly discovered spider species is the largest among its family of arachnids in the Middle East.

The spider, now dubbed Cerbalus aravensis, was discovered in the dunes of the Sands of Samar in the southern Arava region in Israel by a team of biologists from the University of Haifa-Oranim. The scientists say C. aravensis is nocturnal and mostly active during the hottest months of the year.

It constructs underground dens that are sealed off with a lifting door made of sand particles that are glued together to camouflage the living quarters. The spider's legspan is estimated to be about 5.5 inches (14 cm).

Haiti’s homeless haunted by werewolf fears

by David Blair

The corpse of a young man, bloodied by bullet wounds, lay on Boulevard Truman in the centre of Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, a few hundred yards from a rag-tag camp for the homeless.

Why this man was killed is unknown, but a deeply ingrained belief in the occult can explain some of the sporadic outbreaks of violence among the 690,000 people left on the streets by the earthquake of January 12.

By night, mythical creatures are said to prowl the camps, snatching and murdering children. Many Haitians are convinced that people possessed by evil spirits turn into wolves after dark, a version of the werewolf legend. These “loups-garoux”, or “wolf-men”, are thought to be preying on defenceless people sleeping in the open.

The Ghost Island of Hashima Japan

The whole island was deserted for 20 years with no solid reason. This was amazing as the buildings and structures of the island left unattended, probably with only the help from coast guard to ward off unwary visitors. Amazing place to visit…

Hashima Island (“Border” Island, aka “Battleship” Island): Wikipedia describes it best; “Mitsubishi bought the island in 1890 and began the project, the aim of which was retrieving coal from the bottom of the sea. They built Japan's first large concrete building, a block of apartments in 1916 to accommodate their burgeoning ranks of workers (many of whom were forcibly recruited labourers from other parts of Asia), and to protect against typhoon destruction. According to a South Korean commission, the island housed 500 Koreans who were forced to work between 1939 and 1945, during World War II[1].In 1959, its population density was 835 people per hectare (83,500 people/km2) for the whole island, or 1,391 per hectare (139,100 people/km2) for the residential district, the highest population density ever recorded worldwide. As petroleum replaced coal in Japan in the 1960s, coal mines began shutting down all over the country, and Hashima's mines were no exception. Mitsubishi officially announced the closing of the mine in 1974, and today it is empty and bare, which is why it's called the Ghost Island. Travel to Hashima was re-opened on April 22, 2009 after more than 20 years of closure.”

Singapore Bus 'Ghost' Captured on Camera

A Shin Min Daily reader captured a 'ghost' on his camera phone late on Sunday and sent the images to the paper.

According to the Chinese daily, the reader, Mr Chen Lai Fu, 40, said that he has had the ability to see spirits since he was 6 years old.

Mr Chen, who works in advertising, said that when he boarded the bus on Sunday night, he was surprised to find a small boy "playing a fool in the bus".

The boy, whom Mr Chen said looked to be about 9 years old, was playing and talking to himself, but no one on the bus seemed to notice.

He was at the front of the bus and even turned to talk to the bus driver, but the driver showed no response, said Mr Chen.

At one point, the boy even came to the back of the bus where he was sitting to "count the number people on the bus".

Mr Chen said the boy had asked the driver: "Was there an accident?" but the driver did not respond and did not seem to notice his presence.

He then moved to the back of the bus, where he sat beside Mr Chen, and began counting the number of passengers slowly before stopping to exclaim, "wow, so many people!"

Apparently, the boy took an interest in Mr Chen once he realised he could see him.

"He was wearing a grey jacket and yellow shorts. After he realised I was looking at him, he seemed afraid. However later on, he came back and wanted to play with me. He passed his jacket to me, but I ignored him."

10 mysterious cryptids of Asia (Part 2)

by Joan Seth

Here's the second part of the article.

1) Almas

The Almas is a hominid cryptid said to inhabit the Caucasus and Pamir Mountains of central Asia, and the Altai Mountains of southern Mongolia.

Through alleged eyewitness accounts, alleged footprint discoveries and interpretations of long-standing native traditions that have been anthropologically collected.

Experts have declared that they are either just mythological creatures or a relict population of Neanderthals. Others have claimed that they are humans, but with mental disorders and thus discarded from society.

2) Buru

Said to have lived in a certain province of India in the past, the Buru was an aquatic reptile-like cryptid. This reptile was reportedly hunted to extinction by the locals.

Traditional speculation was that the Buru was actually a crocodile. However, the locals describe the Buru as having characteristics such as an elongated neck and a forked tongue. This would place it looking similar to a monitor lizard.

Some experts claim it to be a large species of lungfish instead.

3) The Devil Bird

The Devil Bird or commonly known as the Ulama, is a cryptid that dwells in the Sri Lankan jungles. It is said to emit a blood thirsty scream at night while flying. It is said that its scream is a portent of death.

From local witnesses descriptions, it would closely resemble an owl actually. In 2001, a Spot-Bellied Eagle Owl was captured and was believed to be the mythical Devil Bird in question.

4) Kting Voar

Also known as the Snake Eating Cow, the Kting Voar is a cryptid from Cambodia and Vietnam.

The creature is normally described as a cow-like animal with peculiar twisting horns about 45 centimetres long. The local myths attribute a number of feats to this animal; most particularly, snakes are part of its diet.

Specimens collected and tested were either fake or found out to belong to a normal cow. Many experts do believe in the existence of this animal, and it is actually listed as Endangered in the IUCN list.

5) Ropen

The Ropen is a flying cryptid from the jungles of Papua New Guinea. It is described as featherless and having a tail length of 25% of its wingspan.

Various accounts either describe it as a demonic spirit, a bat-like animal or a Pterosaur. It is believed to be nocturnal and exhibits bioluminescence and thrives on a diet of fish and sometimes human flesh.

Many expeditions to the Papua New Guinea to observe the creature have reported seeing weird flying lights in the jungle at night. Till date, no explanation can be given for such phenomena.

6) Akkorokamui

Akkorokamui is a water cryptid from Japan. It is said to resemble either a giant octopus or a giant squid. Its most striking feature is its red coloured skin.

Although it is said to grow to an enormous size and despite is striking skin colouration, so far, it has only been spotted from far distances.

The locals are understandably afraid of it, as it has been known to capsize boats. They would bring along sickles in their boats to protect themselves from this creature.

7) Veo

The Veo is a cryptid said to dwell on the island of Rinca, Indonesia. It is describe to resemble a scaly ant-eater or pangolin, and has the size of a horse.

No modern pangolins grow to that size, but there was evidence that a large pangolin that grew up to 8 feet lived on the nearby islands of Java and Borneo.

The Veo is described as being a nocturnal, mountain-dwelling creature, subsisting on a diet of ants and termites. Cryptozoologists have suggested that the Veo may represent a relict population of the extinct Manis paleojavanicus.

8) Lake Van Monster

Living in Lake Van in Eastern Turkey, comes the appropriately named Lake Van Monster. Similar to other lake monsters in other parts of the world, it has been described to be either a Plesiosaur or Ichthyosaurus.

In 1997, a man reportedly shot a video of the monster swimming in the lake. After careful examination by experts, many have questioned its authenticity. It is likely to be a hoax.

Skecptics also point out that such a hoax would bring tourist revenue to this region of Turkey.

9) Mande Barung

The Mande Barung is said to inhibit within the remote forests of North East India and Bangladesh.

It is generally described as a large, hairy bipedal hominoid, similar to its cousins the Bigfoot, Yeti, Orang Pendek, etc.

Most scientific experts consider the Mande Barung to be a combination of folklore and hoaxes.

10) Simurgh

The Simurgh is a mythical flying creature similar to a griffin or phoenix. It is commonly found in Persian myths and legends.

The Simurgh has been described as having the foreparts of a dog, the wings and tail of a peacock and the claws of a lion, gigantic enough to carry off an elephant or a whale.

Ultimately, experts believe it to be just a mythological and legendary creature, rather than an actual animal.

Ghost still Haunting Tsunami Zones in Thailand

Some stories are old but definitely not forgotten…

Author: Richard S. Ehrlich

BANGKOK, Thailand -- Many Thais believe ghosts are wandering tsunami-hit beaches, spooking taxi drivers, making the Andaman Sea hungry for more victims, and jinxing an economic recovery for devastated resorts.

Fish sellers and seafood restaurants are suffering a severe downturn in business along the west coast because many Thais are refusing to eat fish, amid fears that sea creatures may have nibbled human corpses swept out to sea.

"Foreign tourists will come back to Khao Lak, but many Thais and Chinese will not want to go there because so many people died, and so many ghosts are there," said Somchai, a taxi driver, as he drove along Phuket's sleek, undamaged highways.

"Thai and Chinese investors, maybe they will not want to buy property or help rebuild those resorts, because those places are bad luck," he said.

Most of Thailand's 5,300 dead perished at Khao Lak, and many have still not been identified.

About half of the total deaths were thought to be foreign tourists who were enjoying the swank resorts in Phang Nga province, just north of Phuket island.

The others were Thais who lived and worked along the gorgeous stretch of tropical beaches.

Thais and foreigners, however, are fueling ghost stories by retelling rumors and hearsay.

"Did you hear the one about the taxi driver, who picked up passengers who turned out to be ghosts?"

That question, spread through conversations, e-mail and the Thai media, has become an urban legend in Thailand.

Most versions of the tale describe an unidentified Thai taxi driver who picks up a "foreign tourist" and his Thai girlfriend, for a taxi ride to Phuket's airport or elsewhere.

The Tree with a Buddha Head in Wat Mahathat, Ayutthaya Thailand

From: HypeSeek@AsiaParanormal

Wat Mahathat is typical of the Ayutthaya ruins: large crumbling stupas surrounded by low laterite walls and rows of headless Buddhas. One Buddha-head is in a tree trunk.

According to tradition, Wat Mahathat was built in 1384 by King Rachatirat to house a relic of the Buddha, but it is more likely it was built during the reign of King Boromaraja I (1370-88).

In about 1625 the top portion of the prang broke off; it was rebuilt in 1633 some 4 m (13 ft) higher than before. Later it collapsed again, and only the corners survived.

In 1956 a secret chamber was uncovered in the ruins; among the treasures found inside were gold jewelry, a gold casket containing a relic of the Buddha, and fine tableware.

The Self-made Mummies of Japan

by Garth Haslam (anomalyinfo.com)

In August, 1998, I had the unusual pleasure of meeting a dead Buddhist priest face-to-face. I was on a pilgrimage to three sacred mountains in the Yamagata prefecture, and had stopped for the night at a town in short distance of the first of these, Haguro. That town, Tsuruoka, just happened to be home to one of the mummified Buddhist priests that I knew existed in Japan, so I couldn't resist the opportunity to visit. At the time, all I knew about these mummies was that #1) they existed, and that #2) these gentlemen had somehow voluntarily mummified themselves while still alive. I've since learned more.

Estimates of the number of self-mummified priests in Japan range between sixteen and twenty-four priests. Impressive though this number is, many more have tried to self-mummify themselves; In fact, the practice of self-mummification -- which is a form of suicide, after all -- had to be outlawed towards the end of the 19th century to prevent Buddhist priests from offing themselves this way... and yet the grand majority of priests who have tried to do this have failed. The reasons will take some explaining -- but first, some background on the whole practice and the reasons for it.

Sheep gives birth to human-faced lamb

by CNNTurk

A SHEEP gave birth to a dead lamb with a human-like face. The lamb was born in a village not far from the city of Izmir, Turkey.

Erhan Elibol, a vet, performed a caesarean on the animal to take the lamb out, but was horrified to see that the features of the lamb's snout bore a striking resemblance to a human face.

Picture is (C) copyright to Daily Telegraph

“I’ve seen mutations with cows and sheep before. I’ve seen a one-eyed calf, a two-headed calf, a five-legged calf. But when I saw this youngster I could not believe my eyes. His mother could not deliver him so I had to help the animal,” the 29-year-old veterinary said.

The lamb’s head had human features on – the eyes, the nose and the mouth – only the ears were those of a sheep.

Did missile test spark Chinese UFO reports?

by James Oberg

In an ironic encore, yet another secret military missile test has sparked widespread UFO reports from surprised ground witnesses.

On Dec. 9, a Russian Bulava missile was launched from a submarine within sight of northern Norway, resulting in a spectacular spiral display and a spate of UFO sightings.

This week's UFO reports apparently were sparked by a Chinese missile that was fired to intercept another missile in flight, for the first time in the nation's history.

Witnesses in China's inland provinces of Xinjiang and Gansu weren’t as well equipped with cameras as last month's Norwegian witnesses were, so the only images reaching the West merely show fuzzy-colored clouds and streaks. The military secrecy surrounding China's missile test is so tight that Beijing officials seem to be at a loss as to how to respond to the reports.

Girlfriend with third eye

by Gong Tao Siao

I used to have a colleague who’s girlfriend posses what some people would call a curse where some may say that it is a gift from God. Its the “3rd eye”. “3rd eye” people have the ability to see supernatural things that “common” people like us could not see unless our luck is on the low side or simply what Chinese would have called it “si wan tai”. My colleague’s girlfriend, WaiWai, though, could not really “see” ghosts all the time which most of the time makes it hard for her to “recognize” who’s living and who’s dead.

According to WaiWai, the spirits looked exactly like any other human. She wouldn’t have noticed them until the spirits starred back at her and only her. Locked in an eye to eye communication, it was usually only then that she realized that she was the only one that could see the spirit and the spirit knows that she could see them. After each incident, she would fall very sick with fever running high for at least a week. Perhaps this is due to her being too frighten as she confesses to me that til today, she could not get used to her unusual “gift”.

At one particular evening at Tesco Damansara WaiWai was waiting for my colleague after work at the parking lot. As her boyfriend stepped into the car, she told my colleague that someone was waving at him.

“Eh, someone’s waving at you”

My colleague glanced behind him and saw no one and replied to her, “No, I can’t see anyone there”

“There, over there!,” WaiWai pointed to the direction where she saw a lady waving

My colleague once again looked at the direction and could not see anyone, “There’s no one! Let’s go”

“But, that person has to be your colleague. She’s wearing the same exact uniform as you!,” exclaimed WaiWai.

This time, my colleague just kept quiet and drove off. That night, WaiWai had fever which lasted for a week. It was told to me that WaiWai saw a lady waving excitedly and since she was wearing the same exact uniform as her boyfriend, she assumed that it was her boyfriend’s colleague and that the lady knew him and was waving at him.

Z Machine to End Energy Crisis?

by Chris Capps

It has been posited recently that the Z Machine, in Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico could create enough power to end the energy crisis for everyone. The machine, which was originally used to measure power fluctuations at the center of nuclear bombs, is now leading scientists into believing in cold fusion, and has been remodeled to combine heavy water atoms and create what some say is the future of electrical power.

As 50 trillion watts of electricity is fired into a central core, a can filled with ultra thin wires has its contents vaporized at a temperature of 6.3 billion degrees Fahrenheit. As the wires vaporize at temperatures higher than any other created by scientists in the world anywhere ever, the wires emit a pulse of X-Ray radiation with more energy than 290 terawatts. For those unfamiliar with how much a terawatt is, it's one trillion watts. Rounded off, that would be enough to power ten billion 90 watt light bulbs. The entire world uses an average amount of power directly from a grid of about 16 Terawatts at any given time.

Hungry Buddhism Ghost Festival In Thailand

Like Holy Ghost Festival Hawaii, Hungry Buddhism Ghost Festival in Thailand is also famous. The ghost festival, known as Phi Ta Khon, is a masked procession on the first day of a three day Buddhist holiday known as Boon Pra Wate. This is an annual festival that takes place either in May, June or July in a small town called Dan Sai which is situated in northeastern province of Loei.

Picture is (C) copyright to ThailandBuddy

The origin of the ghost festival is unclear though folklore has it that in Buddha next to last life, he was reincarnated as Prince Vessandorn. The prince went on an extremely long trip and his subjects either forgot him or presumed him dead. When the prince returned, his subjects were overjoyed to see him and welcomed him back with a celebration so loud that the dead woke up and joined in the fun. Ever since the festival is celebrated with the participants donning masks.

Angels can't fly, scientist says

Angels depicted heralding the birth of Jesus in nativity scenes across the world are anatomically flawed, according to a scientist who claims they would never be able to fly.

A leading biologist has compared the physiology of flighted species with the representations of spiritual and mythical creatures in art – and found the angels and fairies that sit atop of Christmas trees did not get there under their own steam.

Orang Bati - The real Kryptos Batman of Indonesia

Source: Unknown Creatures

Interesting Sighting Details of Orang Bati:
In Seram of the Maluku Islands, also known as the Moluccas archipelago of Indonesia, lives a creature that has fueled both the curiosity and fear of the locals. Known as Orang Bati, or in Indonesian terms, the winged man, the creature resembles a human or giant ape with bat-like wings.

Historical accounts of Christian missionaries visiting the islands during the 15th to 16th century narrate how a winged monster has raided and terrorized the village of Uraur in Seram. The residents fear the creature, as it is known to abduct infants and children when it feeds at night. The monster is also said to raid nearby villages. According to these locals, the Orang Bati lives during the daytime on Mount Kairatu, a dormant volcano with a network of deep caves on the island of Seram.

The Orang Bati has an ape-like body, much like a human standing four to five feet tall, with red skin on its body. The creature has large black leathery wings and a long tail, compared to rhamphorhynchoid species of flying dinosaurs or pterosaurs. Some accounts describe the wings and tail as covered with thick black fur. Villagers often hear the Orang Bati’s arrival by the sound of its shrill wail, similar to that of pterosaurs.

Janghwa Hongryeon Jeon (장화홍련전) - A Tale of Two Sisters

by Joan Seth

Janghwa Hongryeon Jeon (장화홍련전) is a Korean folktale from the Josoen era. Basically it is a tragic story about 2 sisters. It later formed the basis for a series of movies, most notably, the Korean horror movie, A Tale of Two Sisters and its American remake, The Uninvited.

Once upon a time, a man had 2 beautiful girls with his wife. However, while the girls were still young, the wife died. The man thus remarried.

The stepmother was vain and evil. After giving birth to 3 sons, she had even more power, and abused the girls even more. But they suffered in silence. One day, Janghwa, the elder girl was to be engaged. However, the evil stepmother decided not to spend any of her money on Janghwa. She put a skinned dead rat on Janghwa's bed, and told the man about it.She said Janghwa was unchaste and had a miscarriage.

Unfortunately, the man believed the stepmother. In shame and confusion, Janghwa decided to run to a pool. The stepmother's eldest son followed her and pushed her into the pool and she drowned. Everyone thought she committed suicide.

Hongryeon, the younger girl was devastated. Soon after, she followed her sister and drowned in the pool.

Over a period of time, strange events kept happening in the village. Every new mayor that came to the village was killed. Eventually, one day, a new mayor came. He heard of the rumours, but he was not afraid. One night, he was visited by the ghosts of the 2 sisters.

Keeping his nerve, he questioned the ghosts about the killings. Janghwa replied that they were only trying to tell the mayor about the truth behind her supposed suicide.

The mayor, after hearing the story, decided to investigate. He exhumed the bodies and realized that the supposed dead foetus was only a dead rat. He immediately sentenced the stepmother and her eldest son to death.

Soon after, the killings stopped. The father later remarried, and had twin baby girls with his new wife, which he believed to be the reincarnations of his daughters.

This story formed the basis for various movies which accurately depicted the whole story in full. A Tale of Two Sisters adapted the story, and infused it with horror elements.

Picture is (C) copyright to Chungeorahm Film

A Tale of Two Sisters tells the story of 2 sisters, Su-Mi and Su-Yeong, who were sent to a mental insitution for reasons unknown. Apparently, their mother had died and their father married thier mother's nurse.

Strange events start to happen in the house, culminating in a bloody fight between the 2 sisters and the stepmother, in which Su-Mi is left unconscious.

Eventually waking up [Spoilers], Su-Mi realizes that the real stepmother had returned with her father. The audience now discovers that all along Su-Yeong was dead, and Su-Mi was acting as the stepmother and sister. She had a case of severe multiple personality disorder. It is also revealed that Su-Mi unknowingly had caused the death of her mother and sister. [Spoilers]

This movie's direction is incredibly good, and the acting is stunning, with the step-mother in particular incredibly good swinging from one mood style to another in the film. The large house adds eeriness, and there are enough points in the film where you will jump out of your seat.

Calling A Tale of Two Sisters just a horror movie is giving it not enough credit. It is more like a mysterious horror-drama that works both on a psychological and supernatural level. No matter how you look at it, this is Asian horror that ranks way up there amongst the finest. It might not be gory, but it gets pretty scary at times and the subject matter is pretty disturbed.

Cargo of Death - The Ourang Medan Ghost Ship of Indonesia

Author: Shelly Barclay

The story of the SS Ourang Medan is something of a legend which may be fact. The ship itself may or may not have existed. The horrible end that it may or may not have come to is one of the most chilling ghost ship stories ever told. It is also a very mysterious story. Not only is the described event very mysterious, but the existence of the ship itself is a mystery. This may seem like an old fashioned ghost ship tale,

but the events described reportedly happened only a little over half a century ago. The following is the story of the SS Ourang Medan. It could be real, it could be fiction, it could be exaggerated or it could have been the work of aliens.

The SS Ourang was in the Pacific Ocean off of the coast of Indonesia when it sent out a series of extremely disturbing distress calls. These distress calls were supposedly picked up by several ships in the area, including the American vessels, Silver Star and the City of Baltimore. The first message received was "All officers dead...

Sky 'rains tadpoles' over Japan

By Danielle Demetriou

Residents, officials and scientists have been baffled by the apparent downpour of tadpoles in central Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture.

Clouds of dead tadpoles appear to have fallen from the sky in a series of episodes in a number of cities in the region since the start of the month.

In one incident, a 55-year-old man who was caught in a tadpole downpour described hearing a strange sound in the parking lot of a civic centre in the city of Nanao.

Upon further exploration, he found more than 100 dead tadpoles covering the windshields of cars in an area measuring 10 square metres.

Dead tadpole downpours were also reported by local officials 48 hours later in the city of Hakusan in the same prefecture.

Ectoplasm (Ghost Mist) Captured!

From: HypeSeek@AsiaParanormal

This photo was submitted to us by emails, the sender is interested to dig out the misty effects for such kind of photos and offer an example of it.

Classification: Ectoplasm
Some theories on ectoplasm:

1. Ectoplasm is residue left over by a spirit who was recently in an area. I have personally captured "ecto-mist" on film a few times. It's slightly more difficult to catch ecto on film than it is to get orbs.

2.Another theory is that it could be clouds or fog which can be outside or on the lens. This has happened several times to me so make sure you go out when conditions are right; no wind, fog, rain, snow, etc.

3.Another theory says that ectoplasm is electro magnetic energy from the earth. I have photographed ecto-clouds a few times, but haven't seen anything that I would call solid or semi-solid matter.

4. What ever theory you subscribe to, it seems ecto-anything is only captured on film when conditions are exactly right. Large amounts of energy must be present, weather must be good, and the moon phase must be strong, not to mention the entity must be willing!

The Paranormal Activities of Oregon Chang - Episode 2: UFO in Toh Guan

I am always glad to receive mail from subscribers or followers of my blog, so its not a surprise to me when someone sent me a email to contribute ideas, to criticize me, or asking for my opinion on some Paranormal matters.

As I said, I am not a Master (although eventually I want to be a Master of the Paranormal) nor do I want to meddle in such things. However, when a follower of my blog ask for my help truthfully, I will not refuse.

It is my kind hearted nature to help. The only thing I will reject is if you sent me a scam email.

Thus I click the email and read it. It didnt look like a scam, so I downloaded the attachment. To be safe, I did a antivirus scan first. When it was safe, I viewed the video and was surprised by it. Thus I decided to show this video here to everyone.

PS: This are my own conclusions formed after reviewing and doing some research on the video with the help of one of my associates, HyperSeek. My conclusions do not necessarily form the basis of the truth of the video. Just sit back, relax, watch my review of it, and hopefully you can form your own conclusions.

The tropical waters that lap the jungle shores of southern Malaysia could not be described as a paradisical shimmering turquoise. They are more of a dark, soupy green. They also carry a suspicious smell. Not that this is of any concern to the lone Indian face that has just peeped anxiously down at me from the rusting deck of a towering container ship; he is more disturbed by the fact that I may be a pirate, which, right now, on top of everything else, is the last thing he needs.

Chinese Face Readers Observe Moles

by wierdaisanews

Picture is (C) copyright to weirdasianews

While most folks in the Western world swear by astrology and tarot cards, fortune tellers in China go by an age old system of physiognomy revolving around mole reading. According to this system, knowledgeable practitioners can predict certain events of a person’s life based on the location and color of moles.

Typically, certain parts of the face and body were deemed lucky spots for having moles.

In the same way, there were specific spots which, when spotted with one or more moles, signified bad luck for the person.

On the same note, the color of the mole played a significant role in predictions. Thus, fortune tellers fussed over pure black or red moles whilst they were usually wary of mixed colored moles.

The Spirit-Calling Ceremony in Surin Province Thailand

Most Khmer people in the remote areas’ villages are the elderly who always prepare the spirit-calling ceremony while there are the deathly pale sick. As soon as we asked them the reason, they would say they just responded to have done the following the ancestor’s tradition to call back the major and minor souls while not inhabiting the human body.

It is such belief that this spirit-calling ceremony has been implemented at night around 7-8 pm through making offerings to the ancestral spirits and other relatives passing away to call back the major and minor souls. Khmer people in the Northeast Thailand sees that a person totally consists of thirty-six souls; minor soul, thirty; major soul, six.

The upland Khmer (Khmer Leur) on the other side of Dang Rek mountain range pay much respects to the souls because people able to survive rely on those major and minor souls which are powerful, even though they cannot see; those are also the ancestral souls.

Avatar : What you would be if you weren't you?

Author: Nutter

Have you ever thought what you would BE if you WEREN'T YOU? If you weren't stuck in this physical body that you were assigned to upon birth? What if you could really choose your gender, nationality and even which planet you live on?

Picture is (C) copyright to 20th Century Fox

AVATAR (2009), the latest second highest-grossing film of all time world over, losing only to the impressionable 1997 classic movie, Titanic, is one such science-fiction epic movie that really captures that part of a person. AVATAR is basically a Hindu term for "appearance", "incarnation" or "manifestation", which a deliberate descent of a deity from heaven to earth. In the box-office hit movie, the protagonist, Jake Sully, a paraplegic US Marine, takes the place of his deceased Scientist twin brother, in an important mission on the Planet Pandora in the year 2154. His avatar was in the form of the race, Na'vi, a blue-skinned species of sapient humanoids who are much stronger and taller than humans.

Now let's come back to the question: What if we humans really do have a consciousness, a soul, that can transcend all space and time and can really reach out to the aliens out there? What if we really do have the ability to learn and speak in their language(s) and absorb their culture(s)? Will that really make us more universal beings? Or are there some ugly things as humanoids that we need to change about ourselves first before we can reach out to them? Finally, is our unifying language in the galaxy LOVE as what is taught in many good religions?

We welcome all feedback and strongly encourage in-depth discussion on this topic during this mid-week!

Nazca Lines in Kazakhstan

by Michael Cohen

Media outlets as well as the official government website in Kazakhstan are reporting the surprise discovery of local geoglyphs or ‘Nazca Lines’. Geoglyphs are drawings created on the ground by arranging stones or removing the top layers of earth. These designs typically cover large areas. The most famous geoglyphs are those found in the Nazca desert in Peru. These show hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks, llamas, and lizards.

The Kazakhstan Geoglyphs appear to depict a humanoid figure wedged between two unusual structures. The drawings are located in the remote Karatau Mountains in South Kazakhstan.

Geoglyphs are of interest to UFO researchers, some of whom believe they might be messages or markers created by ancient people for the benefit of visiting extraterrestrials. It is alleged by these UFO scholars that in times of distress these were a way of asking ‘Star Gods’ to return and Assist these early societies, however this hypothesis has not been proven.

An Introduction on Guman Thong (Child Spirit) of Thailand

From: HypeSeek@AsiaParanormal

Guman Thong is a Thai miniature amulet created resembling a lovely young child. Most people today, keep them to bring in fortunes and protections from the enemies. Legendary Thai general Khun Paen created the first Guman Thong about 500 years ago in the Ayuthaya era. He was being taught on the exotic art and was raised up by the high monk Acharn Kong.

According to legend, he performs a ritual using various exotic materials and the carcass of his dead son and forms the first Guman Thong. He reared and treated the Guman Thong as a son. In return, the Guman Thong is said to assist him in winning many battles against the Burmese invasion.

A tradition Guman Thong is made from a dead baby from the womb of a dead woman. In the past, high monk searched for such cases in the cemeteries where an unborn child was dead with the mother.

The monks then dug out the body of the mother and cuts open the abdominal to retrieve the dead baby. He had to rush to the nearest Bosth (Sacred Chanting Hall) with the dead baby to perform the ritual and baked the dead baby into a Guman Thong.

However, the task to deliver the dead baby for the ritual is not a simple matter; a mere gravedigger without the expertise in Thai esoteric art could be killed in the process. In Thai tradition, a mother who died with her baby in the womb may become a ferocious ghost when provoked.

They call this aggressive ghost as the ‘Phi Tai Tong Klom’. The Phi Tai Tong klom will give chase to, and kill the offender to retrieve her baby back. Even the master of occult had to be very careful in fending off from such ghost while delivering the dead baby to a Bosth. A Bosth hall is said to be so sacred with the statues of Buddha in place, that demons and ghosts of the highest-level are not about to break in. Once the dead baby had being delivered into a Bosth, the master can proceed to perform the ritual.

Creating a Guman Thong in the present day is less thrilling, high monks created the miniature child figurines from raw materials e.g. wood, bronze, plastics or gold. The Guman Thong is then bought to “live” by special mantras. Some guru monks who created sacred Guman Thongs are such as Luang Poo Boon of Wat Klang Bang Kaew, Luang Poh Cham of Wat Takong and Luang Poh Tae KongThong of Wat SamNgam, etc. The most well known and most popular pieces are of Luang Poh Tae KongThong.

Picture is (C) copyright to ThailandAmulets.blogspot

Anybody who owns a Guman Thong should acknowledge some important practices;
Food offerings presented at least once a day to the Guman Thong is a must.

Toy offering must also be presented occasionally as Guman Thong is a young child (spirit), and he behaves just like a normal human child.

Owner of Guman Thong should treat and love it as his/her son. For the 1st personal pronoun you call yourself "father" or "mother"; for the 2nd personal pronoun you call him "my son”; and for the 3rd personal pronoun you just call his name Guman Thong.

It is recommended that Guman Thong should not be worship or own by a household with children because Guman Thong may envy your children whom you pay all love to.

Owning and worshipping Guman Thong needs deliberate practices but if you can do it completely as recommended, he will be a good great fortune bringer.

Eerie outpost unnerves US Marines with strange lights and whispers in the night

by Tom Coghlan

Picture is (C) copyright to The Times Online

The Marines found the bone as they scraped a shallow trench. Long, dry and unmistakably once part of a human leg, it was followed by others. They reburied most of them but also found bodies. Three of the graves were close together; in another was a skeleton still wearing a pair of glasses. The Marines covered the grave and told their successors to stay away from it.

Observation Point Rock sits a few hundred metres south east of Patrol Base Hassan Abad, where a company from 2/8 Marines has been stationed for the past seven months. It is a lonely and exposed outpost 20 metres (65ft) above the surrounding landscape, which has been in Nato hands since it was captured from the Taleban in 2008.

Groups of Marines are posted to guard it, usually for a couple of months at a time, and “the Rock” has acquired a peculiar reputation. American

The Truth Behind the Mongolian Death Worm

Braving violent sandstorms akin to fog with an attitude problem, tent-shredding twisters that blast men off their feet, and an ice river that caves in as their vehicles are crossing, the four men continue on their journey. Their thoughts are haunted by the creature they are tracking, a legendary beast said to be capable of spitting lethal corrosive venom, or killing from a distance with an electrical discharge. This was the quest to find the truth about the Mongolian Death Worm.

The intense experiences just described were critical moments for leading cryptozoologist, author and zoological journalist Richard Freeman, in the expedition he led in 2005. The mission: to track one of the world’s most fearsome cryptids, an animal that strikes terror into the hearts of many Mongolian people with its abhorrent appearance and deadly demeanour – and not just for those who have seen it.

The Believing or not believing of Chinese Ghosts

Picture is (C) copyright to http://www.enghunan.gov.cn

There are many ghosts in Chinese culture. Ghosts have been believed and worshipped by Chinese for a few thousand years. Even Confucius said, "Respecting ghosts and gods, but away from them."

Many people believe ghosts, yet many don't. Chinese people often say, "If you believe it, there will be, but if you don't, there will not." Here is a story about this

saying.

Zhuxi was a famous scholar in the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279). He believed there were no ghosts in the world, so he decided to write an essay "No Ghost." It was said he was a great sage so even ghosts were afraid of him. If he said no ghosts, ghosts could no longer exist. When ghosts knew he was writing the essay, they gathered together to discuss this and decided to send the smartest ghost to entreat him abandon the writing.

So one night, the smartest ghost appeared at Zhuxi's desk and kowtowed towards Zhuxi repeatedly. Zhuxi was surprised and asked:

"Where comes the ghost? How dare you disturbing me at night."
"Yes, I am a ghost, but ..."
"Why don't you leave and why do you come in my study room?"
"I am here to entreat ..." replied the ghost.
"People are in the Yang world and ghosts are in the Yin world. We are in the different worlds so there are no way I can help you."
"I have very important things to entreat you, Sir."
"Ok, say it!"

10 mysterious cryptids of Asia (Part 1)

by Joan Seth

From the snowy mountains to the deep ocean, many people claim to have witnessed or found evidence pointing to an "animal", which they believe it to be "undiscovered".

The science behind the study of unknown animals is called Cryptozoology. Here is a rundown of 10 mysterious animals that are said to reside in Asia. Part two coming soon.

1)Yeren

The Yeren (literally means "Wild Man" in Chinese) is said to be a primate-like creature that is found in the Hubei region of China.

Authorities there have records of up to 400 sightings since the 1920s. Since then, the local government has supported the locals on studies of this animal. Funding and support were given to scientists to find any concrete evidence of this animal. Till date, no one has ever done so.

Click here for an video on the Yeren

Click here for an another video on the Yeren

2) Sigbin

The Sigbin is said to come out at night in the Philippines to suck blood from victims' shadows. People have said that it resembles a hornless goat with very long ears and a long tail used as a whip. It is also said to emit a nauseating odor, while walking with its head lowered between its hind legs.

The animal will seek children during Holy Week, to kill for their hearts. According to the locals, there are some powerful people who are able to control these animals and thus able to keep them as pets. If done so, the Sigbin is said to bring wealth and luck to its owners.

3) Bukit Timah Monkey Man

Commonly known as the BTM, this creature is said to reside in the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore. Sightings of this animal are very rare. Most of the local accounts come from Malay folklore, sightings by Japanese soldiers during World War II and in recent years, from the local residents.

Recent local sightings state that it mainly comes out at night in the nature reserve, walking around, presumably looking for food. However, experts agree that this has been a case of mistaken identity; instead, the local sightings refer to the Rhesus Macaque Monkeys that dwell commonly in the area.

Click here for an article on the Bukit Timah Monkey Man

4) Con Rit

This monstrosity is said to dwell in the seas of the South East Asia region. Throughout the ages there have been numerous sightings of Con Rit. In 1899, there was a report that some sailors observed a sea monster that possessed an immense number of fins, and measured about 45 metres long. It managed to swim and keep pace with the ship for half an hour.

Long ago, people thought that giant squid were the stuff of myths and legends, until real giant squid were captured and documented. What are the odds that a giant centipede resides in the oceans, awaiting discovery by science?

5) Ishii

This is a legendary sea monster that is found in Japan. According to legend, Issie was a white mare which had a little foal, and they lived together on the shore of lake Ikeda. However, one day, the foal was kidnapped by a samurai.

Issie jumped into the lake to find her child, and in her despair she transformed into a giant, saurian beast, which since then frequently surfaces, trying to find her lost child.

This monster is described to be saurian in appearance, which means it looks like a reptile (probably a lizard). Saurians also included extinct dinosaur-like creatures.

6) Ahool

The Ahool is said to be a giant bat-like creature found in Indonesia. Others describe it as a flying primate or a living pterosaur.

It is described as having an ape-like head with large dark eyes, large claws on its forearms, and a body of gray fur. The most intriguing and astounding feature is that it is said to have a wingspan of 3 m. This is almost twice as long as the largest (known) bat in the world, the common flying fox.

Experts believe that the sightings of this creature are actually large Earless Owls.

7) Orang Pendek

Indonesian for “Short Person”, this is supposedly a primate-like creature that dwells in the forests of Sumatra. It has been sighted and documented for at least the past hundred years. Sightings specify that this creature has short fur and stands up to 1.5 meters tall.

The most number of sightings occur within the Kerinci regency of central Sumatra and the borders of Taman Nasional Kerinci Seblat. Some of the common characteristics of this animal reported by eyewitnesses include that it is largely herbivorous, is short legged with long arms, have been spotted in trees and underwater. Some people even claim to see it fly!

Click here for an article on the Orang Pendek

8) Phaya Naga

The Phaya Naga are said to be serpent-like creatures that live in the Mekong river in Laos. The Naga fireballs are attributed to these creatures.

Local Lao folklore states that the Phaya Naga are protectors of Vientiane and Laos. The myth of the Phaya Naga is incorporated extensively into Lao iconography and in Lao culture.

Experts believe that they could be overgrown giant mottled eels, a yet to be discovered species of eel or just methane.

9) Lake Tianchi Monster

This is the name given to a lake monster that dwells in Heaven Lake in Jilin Province of China and Pyanggang Province in North Korea.

In 1903, an sighting claimed that a large buffalo-like creature attacked 3 people, but after the creature was shot 6 times, it escaped into the water.

Recent reports describe the monster as having a humanoid head attached to a 1.5 meter long neck. It is said to have grey and smooth skin.

Click here for an another video on the Lake Tianchi Monster

10) Mongolian Death Worm

Eyewitnesses accounts describe it as a bright red worm that can grow up to 1.5 meters long. It is difficult to tell its head from its tail, as it has no visible eyes, nostrils or mouth.

The locals also claim that it has the ability to spit sulphuric acid and discharge electricity which can easily kill a human. Touching it directly will also cause instant death. Least to say, the locals are understandably afraid of it, and aim to steer clear of it.

Scientists reject the possibility that such creatures exist, because of the improbably large numbers necessary to maintain a breeding population and because climate and food supply issues make their survival in reported habitats unlikely.

The Paranormal Activities of Oregon Chang - Episode 1: Jurong West Shrine

Recently it had come to my attention that a mysterious shrine was located in a remote location of Jurong West.

Actually I had received some info from one of my friends, who shall remain anoymous. One day while jogging in the area, he told me, he chanced upon this path leading to nowhere.

Going in to take a further look, he saw what seemed to be a shrine housing some sort of a deity. Least to say, he didn't stay there for long. Apparently he felt a creepy presence and decided to leave.

So I got one of my associates to tag along to be the cameraman. If there really was such a shrine here, I would very much want to take a look.

It was a cold evening, but that was the least of our worries. I can't really describe what happened (actually it was too dark that I did not really see anything), but the camera footage managed to reveal all.

After I had ventured further in alone, I felt a demonic presence. It was as if something was watching me. I was not deterred though. I decided to go further in, and that's when I heard a creepy noise.

That was enough even for a future potential Master of Paranormal like me. I immediately turned and ran, asking my cameraman to run as well.

It wasn't until later in the morning that we returned to retrieve the dropped camera which was flat. We reviewed the footage and noticed something weird at the end. I did not recall seeing a ghostly figure while I was in the path, but it was there, in the video.

Thus, we decided to upload this video to raise awareness. There are certain things in this world which cannot be explained through conventional means, and certain things are better left alone.

Tibetan Sound Levitation Of Large Stones Witnessed By Scientist

by Bruce Cathie

A New Zealand scientist recently gave me an intriguing extract from an article published in a German magazine, relating to a demonstration of levitation in Tibet. After obtaining a translation by a German journalist, in English, I was amazed at the information contained in the story, and was surprised that the article had slipped through the suppression net which tends to keep such knowledge from leaking out to the public.

All the similar types of stories that I had read up until now were generally devoid of specific information necessary to prove the veracity of the account. In this case a full set of geometric measurements were taken, and I discovered, to my great delight, that when they were converted to their equivalent geodetic measures, relating to grid harmonics the values gave a direct association with those in the unified harmonic equations published in my earlier works.

The following extracts are translations taken from the German article: 'We know from the priests of the far east that they were able to lift heavy boulders up high mountains with the help of groups of various sounds...the knowledge of the various vibrations in the audio range demonstrates to a scientist of physics that a vibrating and condensed sound field can nullify the power of gravitation. Swedish engineer Olaf Alexanderson wrote about this phenomenon in the publication, Implosion No. 13.

The following report is based on observations which were made only 20 years ago in Tibet. I have this report from civil engineer and flight manager, Henry Kjelson, a friend of mine. He later on included this report in his book, The Lost Techniques. This is his report.

Or did they just used a lot of manual labour, primitive tools and have a lot of free time? Or did they had help from Extraterrestrial sources?

Thousands panicked and escaped from their homes as rumours spread like wildfire.

6) Bigfoot

In July 1947, a UFO crashed landed in Roswell, USA. A massive government coverup ensued, and the official report was that a top secret weather balloon crashed. However, many people claim to have witnessed alien bodies being removed from the scene. In this image, which has been proven to be a hoax, one of the aliens from the crash is being subject to an autopsy. The video is faked; but did something really happen on that fateful day at Roswell?

8) The Brown Lady of Raynham Hall

This is one of the most famous ghost photos ever. Taken in Raynham Hall in 1936, this was supposedly the ghost of Lady Townsend who died in 1726. Its origins are unclear, some say it was the 13th child of a woman named Mrs Leeds, who was cursed by the Devil; others say it was the offspring of a woman and the Devil. Whatever it was, it remains one of the most mysterious crytids of all time.

10) The Shroud of Turin

The Shroud of Turin was a linen cloth that bore the image of a man subject to crucifixion. It is currently held in the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin, Italy. Experts have argued that carbon dating indicates that the shroud was created in the 13th century, which was long after Jesus Christ passed away. Believers still hold firm to the belief that the shroud was placed on Jesus' body after he passed.
