MANY crave nasi lemak, roti canai and other delights. But for a 63-year-old, soap and talcum powder has been his favourite "food" for the past 17 years.
Mohd Razali Ishak, 63, said many people think his unusual habit would affect his health, Harian Metro reported.
"I started eating bar soap after I was attracted to its smell and shape.
"After taking a small bite, I found it delicious and it has become a staple item in my diet.
"Seven months ago, I started eating talcum powder because of its smell. Now, I am able to finish two to three bottles of 100gm powder," he said.
The father of nine has even gone to a hospital to confirm his physical and mental health.
"Tests confirm I am sane," he said.
Mohd Razali who stays in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, said he still did not know the reason behind his strange habit.
Pantai Ipoh Hospital consultant rheumatologist Dr Loo Kok Lim said Mohd Razali has Pica Syndrome.
He said sufferers crave non-food items like sand and glass as well as soap and powder.
