Chemical-like smell engulfs several parts of S'pore

SINGAPORE : MediaCorp received more than 5 calls on its hotline of a bad smell hanging over several parts of the island on Monday.

Calls were received from residents in Hougang, Sengkang, Yio Chu Kang, Ang Mo Kio and and Paya Lebar.

One caller from Yio Chu Kang described the smell as insecticide-like.

Others described it as unpleasant and chemical-like, similar to kerosene or burning rubber.

The callers also said the air looked foggy.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) said no toxic gases have been detected so far, and is continuing to monitor the air quality.

Investigations are still being carried out to find out the cause of the smell.

NEA has also contacted its Malaysian counterparts to check whether any unusual smell has been detected in Johor.

Some Sengkang residents said the chemical-like smell started from around 4pm.

"It was like the smell of oil, very heavy. Then, when I looked out of the balcony window, the whole field is full of white smoke," said Sengkang resident Lee Khar Kiang.

A commentary on Zombie types (Part 3)

by Joan Seth

Part 3 - Demonic Zombies

We talk about zombie reproduction here, but obviously they cannot reproduce in the conventional way. So how are zombies created?

In the historical sense, Haitian Voodoo magic practitioners have long claimed that they are able to revive a dead person. They do this by capturing the zombi astral, which is a part of the human soul. It is believed that after a time God will take the soul back and so the zombi is a temporary spiritual entity.

However, if we look at it in a scientific manner, it is rather quite possible to induce a "zombie-like" state in a living person. Clairvius Narcisse was a Haitian man said to have been turned into a living zombie with the use of a combination of drugs.

Photo of Clairvius Narcisse

According to reports, Narcisse was given a combination of drugs to induce a "death" state in him. His pulse and heart rate dropped till near zero, yet he was still alive. After his "death" and burial, he was recovered by a Voodoo priest and was given a hallucinogenic drug which can cause memory loss. He was then forced to work for the priest as a slave.

In the Spanish movie REC, a reporter follows a team of fire men to investigate a series of strange happenings in a block of flats. It turns out that some of the residents have been infected with what was thought to be a viral contagion. These victims exhibit aggressive and cannibalistic behavior. This zombie infection also spreads through contact with a infected person's blood.

In the sequel REC 2 which is set immediately after the first movie, it is discovered that the original infected victim was actually possessed by a demon. The victim was then turned into a zombie creature by the demon, and that the spread of the zombie infection was actually a spread of the demonic influence.

The classic horror movie, the Evil Dead, features zombie-like creatures called Deadites. The main characters unwittingly activate the Necronomicon, the Book of the Dead, which caused demons to be released onto Earth. The demons then possess dead bodies, effectively turning them into zombies.

In the film Dead Snow and the game Call of Duty: Zombies, the zombies are actually former Nazi Germany soldiers. The main characters have to fight off zombies who have the characteristics of Nazi soldiers.

There had been reports and rumours that during World War II, Nazi Germany was looking into occult practices to aid in their war effort. Creating a army of zombies could have been one serious thought, as it would had been unstoppable.

Nazi spaceship film sparks UFO debate

The Finnish sci-fi comedy 'Iron Sky' centres on real-life SS officer Hans Kammler who was said to have made a significant breakthrough in antigravity experiments towards the end of WW2.

The film relates how, from a secret base built in the Antarctic, the first Nazi spaceships were launched in late 1945 to found the military base Schwarze Sonne – Black Sun – on the dark side of the Moon.

This base was to to be used to build a powerful invasion fleet and return to take over the Earth once the time was right, in this case 2018.

But a new report out this week in Germany in the magazine PM purports that there is "strong evidence" that a Nazi UFO programme was well advanced.
Hitler ordered Luftwaffe chief Hermann Goering to develop the super weapon that would change the war.

The PM report quotes eyewitnesses who believe they saw a flying saucer marked with the Iron Cross of the German military flying low over the Thames in 1944.

Computers One Step Closer To Reading Your Mind

Machines that decode your thoughts aren't limited to the realm of science fiction anymore.

A computer program that analyzes brain scans was able to tell which of three short films people were thinking about, according to a study in the journal Current Biology.

"We were able to predict just from their brain activity which of those memories they were recalling," says Eleanor A. Maguire, one of the study's authors and a professor of cognitive neuroscience at University College London.

This is a major step forward, Maguire says. But it falls short of what most people would call mind reading. "We can't put somebody in a brain scanner and immediately know what thoughts they are having," she says.

The Ghost of Room 214

This is my own experience in room 214, second floor of St. Luke's Hospital in Quezon City, Philippines. I was 11 years old when my mother was sent to the hospital. My older brother and I escorted our mother, since our father was at work. We were to stay in room 214. The room that was given to us was a class A room; however, before we got in, my brother told me that we had company. I just ignored it.

At first, it was all fine, until I noticed that every time I woke up the air conditioner was on and the light in the bathroom is off. On our second night, my brother joined me to watch our mom and while we were watching TV, he told me that a lady is in the bathroom, but still I didn't believe him.

I just ignored it until it turned off the light again and then it flushed the toilet. After that night, my brother left at 6:30 a.m. This is the day that the horrible event took place.

Ethnic Chinese Groups Vampires ( 中华僵尸)

Despite that Egypt and India has been considered the birthplace of the vampire. However , the home of the vampire is actually from Tibet. The Greece's Santorini island is traditionally the most vampire-infested place in the world

Contradict speaking, European Sources claimed that the world's first vampire was from China ! In the past, based on many ancient European sources, it has been firmly believed by many that Vampires originated from China and it was through the silk road it next spread over into India followed by the middle east , then the Mediterranean eventually into the whole of Europe.

Chinese vampires is being known as the Jiang Shi. The types of Vampires in China can varies from the different region , provinces & even Ethnic groups. Chinese Vampires has many variations. The below 2 would some examples.

The Beheaded Vampire

This a vampire whose head has been chop off ! The head flies around during the night constantly seeking for it's own body with the objective of uniting with it's own original body.

By itself, this flying head is a vampire and is very powerful. Do bare in mind that this beheaded vampire must never reunite with a body. This is because once it does, it will become even far much more powerful and unstoppable than before. You will have to once again separate it from the body and separately destroy the body and head in order to fully destroy it.

Sometimes it can operate separately ! The head is looking for the body and the body is looking for it's own head. However this is not in every case.

There are also cases where which this head will seek for substitute body. In such cases, this substitute will be from a living human.

Blood Demon (血魔)

Very little is known about this demon. What is known is that this demon is far much more superior than the vampire. Vampires in comparison with this Blood Demon (血魔) is considered to be very inferior. Even a gang of vampires cannot defeat one single Blood Demon (血魔) at all !

The Blood Demon (血魔) comprises from the element of blood. It has been said that it was a ill fated human who led a life of misery, Hate, anger, and vengeance whom under some form of encounters that had him transformed into a demon of blood element which is known to be as the Blood Demon (血魔).

When a blood curse from this Blood Demon (血魔) is being casted on it's victim, The victim will become extremely insanely murderous, merciless , brutal, cruel & violent. This victim will have inhumanly behavior like some unleashed beast or monster that cannot be contained. He or She will have a Strong passion for killing and loves the sight of blood.

There are only 56 Ethnic groups which are being classified and categorized as the official and recognized ethnic groups of mainland China. Any other Ethnic groups who do not belong to this 56 are considered to be as unofficial and unrecognized in China.

Let's have a look a few of these various vampires of the different ethnic Chinese groups or different Chinese regions.

Ethnic Manchurian Chinese Vampire

The Most common Vampires known to most of us from the media is the Ethnic Manchurian Chinese Vampires which is very zombie like and it jumps and hops around. They rise from their graves or coffins to find victims. They don't speak human languages as they communicate with one another in their own vampire language. Their body is very stiff and hard. They also do not feel any pain.

Ethnic Mongolian Chinese Vampire

In the province of Inner Mongolia which is part of China as well as it's neighbor, Mongolia, The Mongol Ethnic groups also have their own versions of Vampires as well.

The Mongol's Version of Vampire would be :
Aniukha
Mongolian God of Time
Mongolian Death Worm ( Sometimes considered to be as a Vampire)

Aniukha

This Ethnic Mongolian Chinese vampire, Aniukha is the spirit of a shaman who has used his power to return from the dead. All shamans have returned from the dead once: a ritual death and rebirth is part of their initiation into becoming a shaman.

However, even though the shaman exists on the threshold between life and death, he is expected to use the powers this grants him only for the good of his community. When he uses these powers for his own ends, he can become a fearsome being indeed. Once a shaman has become an Aniukha, the best way to dispose of him is to drive an aspen stake through his corpse and then cremate him

Ethnic Tibetan Chinese Vampires

The below would be a list of some of Vampire types from the Tibet province of China.

1) Bhagavan Vajra Heruka
2) Vajra Krotishaurima
3) Ratna-Herucka
4) Padma-Heruka
5) Dark-Green Ghasmari
6) Kerimas
7) The Lotus Order
8) Dakini
9) Khadro
10) Tibetan Lord of Death
11) Yama the Tibetan Devil

China's province of Tibet and many of the other regions of China is just like India as in that they possesses rich pantheon of supernatural entities and that many of them had some form of vampiric qualities. Much of it was also shared with neighboring nations such as Nepal, Sikkim, Mongolia and many more.

As for the Tibetans, the most visible of the vampiric entities were the so-called Wrathful Deities who appeared in The Tibetan Book of the Dead. This volume described what Tibetan Buddhists believed would be experienced by individuals in the days immediately following their death.

During these days, the deceased generally wandered into an area dominated by karma (the law of consequences) where the higher impulses of the heart gave way to the reasonings of the brain centers. The heart impulses were personified by the Peaceful Deities.

The brain reasonings were personified by the Wrathful Deities. Contemporary writers on Tibetan Buddhism have generally emphasized that the deities were not objectively real, but were the products of the person picturing aspects of the self. However, in traditional Buddhist lore, they were pictured as part of a true supernatural realm.

The Wrathful Deities are also known as the 58 blood-drinking deities, these vampires were figures representing the brain's reason and the deceased's vampire activities, which appeared to the spirit of the recently dead from the eight day onwards whilst they wandered the karma-dominated zones of the afterlife in Buddhist teachings. These include:
Bhagavan Vajra- Heruka, Vajra-Krotishaurima, Ratna-Herucka, Padma-Heruka, Dark-Green Ghasmari, plus Eight Kerimas and The Lotus Order.

For example, the blood-drinking deities of the Vajra order appeared on the ninth day. Here the intellect was represented by Bhagavan Vajra-Heruka. In one hand he held a human scalp. He was embraced by his mother, Vajra-Krotishaurima, whose right hand held a red shell filled with blood that she placed at her son's mouth.

On the next day, one encountered Ratna-Heruka, who appeared like Vajra-Heruka, but was yellow rather than blue. The red Padma-Heruka appeared on the eleventh day. On the twelfth day, the blood-drinking deities of the Lotus Order were encountered. On the thirteenth day, the eight Kerimas were encountered. These deities had the heads of various animals and engaged in different vampiric and ghoulish actions.

One, the Dark-Green Ghasmari, for example, held a scalp filled with blood that she stirred with a dorje (a holy object) then drank from it. Other similar deities appeared daily throughout the fourteenth day. The dying person was given instructions on relating to the deities and prayers to acknowledge them. Individuals were also told to call upon the name of their own guru and their personal deity to sustain them in the loneliness of the after-death realms. It should be noted that these deities did not attack the individual who encountered them, rather they were pictured as general representations of vampiric actions previously committed by the deceased.

Dakini

A terrible and beautiful demi-goddess from the Tibetan tradition. The Dakinis appear to a person during the process of dying, and they are part of the long visionary journey that ensues after physical death and before the deceased chooses to reincarnate.

The Dakinis are ambivalent beings for they appear in frightening and terrible forms to the deceased, but only in order to get the dead person to address issues about his past life and resolve his attachments so he can move on to a higher existence. Many of the Dakinis are vampyric in nature, being described as naked women, sometimes with the heads of animals, who drink blood from chalices made of human skulls.

The Dakinis appear with the “peaceful and wrathful deities,” beings who, like the Dakinis, exhibit ghastly vampyric natures in an attempt to convince the deceased of the impermanency of the flesh.

Tibetan Lord of Death

The Tibetan Lord of Death, who, like the Nepalese Lord of Death and the Mongolian God of Time, subsisted by drinking the blood of sleeping people. This Tibetan god had a green face and a blue-green body. In his clawed hand he held the Wheel of Life.

The Nepalese god had three blood-shot eyes with flames issuing from his eyebrows and thunder and lightning from his nostrils. In his hands, he carried a sword and a cup of blood. He was decorated with human skulls. The Mongolian god, with his prominent canine teeth, was seen amidst a storm over a bloody sea.

There was also a belief in the pursuit of the living by the dead. The dead were cremated, in part, to prevent the soul from attempting to re-enter it. The soul after death, like person before death, became the object of ritual, in this case to keep it from interacting improperly with the realm of the living.

Sikkim Vampire

Sikkim is a neighbor to Tibet and during early eighteenth century, Princess Pedi Wangmo, the monarch's half-sister, plotted to kill her half-brother. With the assistance of a Tibetan doctor, she bled Chador Namgyal to death and drank his blood. She escaped the palace but was soon caught. Both she and her accomplice were killed. It was believed, by some, that after death she became a vampire. Her story was recounted in a fresco in a monastery in Sinon near Mt. Kanchenjunga.

Regions, Provinces and Neighbors' Vampires of China

In fact, much of the vampires from India, Nepal and Bhutan can also be found in Tibet. Some of the Tibetan vampires can be found in her neighboring nations or regions.

As for the province of Yunan, much of the Thai (Siamese) and Myanmar ( Burma) vampires can also be found there and likewise some of the Chinese vampires from Yunan province can also be found in Indo-China , Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand ( Siam).

For the province of Xinjiang where the Ugyhur ethnic group are one of the main and biggest groups in that region, it is very likely that the vampires there are mainly those Turkish and Middle eastern Vampires types.

In the province of Heilongjiang which borders Manchuria region, and Mongolia as well as Russia, There, lies many Ethnic Russian Chinese and hence Russian Vampires can also be found near that region of China.

The Will-o'-the-wisp phenomenon

By Joan Seth

Will-o'-the-wisps are traditional depictions of ghostly lights often seen at night or twilight over swamps or marshes. They resemble flickering lights and are said to disappear suddenly when approached. Here, we take a look at various types of Will-o'-the-wisps in various Asian folklore.

Chir Batti (Ghost light) of Banni grasslands and the adjoining marshy salt flats of the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat State, India. It is described as a strange light as bright as a mercury lamp that changes its color to blue, red and yellow and resembles a moving ball (reported also pear shaped form) of fire, which may moves as fast as an arrow but may also stop. It is not just one light, but could appear at several places. The light has also been observed to becomes two from one.

Doggaebi bul (도깨비불) in Korea, "Doggaebi" being a traditional friendly monster with one or two horns on the head, and "bul" meaning fire.

Gandaspati in Indonesia, especially Central Java, a wicked spirit in flame that can take the form a dragon, and causes the death of whoever touches it.

Guǐ huǒ (鬼火) in Chinese, literally ghost fire. Often seen in graveyards or other places where dead bodies gather. As the dead bodies rot and decay phosphine is produced which spontaneously ignites in air in hot weather, the flames producing the sporadic lights seen in hot summer nights. Sometimes also referring to the completely different phenomena of phosphorescence or more rarely, ball lightning.

Kolli vai pisaasu, a Tamil term used to describe a ghost (pisaasu) with burning embers (kolli) in its mouth (vai). There is a contention whether will-o'-the-wisp and kolli vai pisaasu are the same.

Kra Sue (ไฟกระสือ) Thai. Appears in the shape of fire ball flying over the dumping areas where, in the old times, Siamese people buried their excrement and the midwives dumped the placenta after giving birth. Hence it is believed that this "ghost" lived on the consumption of this waste. It is claimed that the fireball flickers on the heartbeat rhythm so that it is assumed to be the soul of a woman. Some reported that the true form of Kra Sue is a head of woman together with her entire digestion organs from esophagus to entrails, a heart, and lungs, flying in the night time preying on small lives. The flickering light observed is emitted from her heart.

Mekong lights or Nekha lights in Thailand and Laos are one of those fantastic manifestations of nature that science has yet to adequately explained. Apparently, in the Mekong River, near Nong Khai, Thailand, lights will appear under the river within a length of a few hundred meters. These lights slowly float to the surface and then shoot out like missles into the sky and out of sight. They are the size of beach balls. The local name for them is the Nekha lights. The Nekha is a large fish which lives in the river. Locals also claim the lights are actually the eggs layed by a giant serpent.

Onibi (鬼火) Japanese meaning ghost/demon fire. It's sometimes associated with or mistaken for the trickster 人魂 (hitodama or "human soul"), blue or green floating balls of fire assumed to be souls of people with unfinished business. Other Japanese myths consider the phenomenon a trick of the kitsune, employing their "fox-fire" (kitsune-bi) to lead travelers astray.

Paranormal expert claims ghosts are using cell phones to contact friends

A paranormal expert in Britain has claimed that ghosts are trying to contact the living through mobile phones, with the number of mystery calls attributed to them rising by 43 percent in the last four years.

Phil Hayes, a spectre investigator from Paranormal Research UK, believes a third of all haunting are now through mobile phones.

"There is evidence to suggest that ghosts can use phones to communicate, with reports of people receiving phone calls from deceased relatives," the Sun quoted Hayes as saying.

According to him, the calls often feature heavy static and the voice sounds faint and distant, and nine in ten show as "withheld number" or "000000000000" on caller ID.

Statistics show two thirds of all paranormal phenomena feature sounds, with just 20 percent being actual sightings of ghosts and 15 percent based on smell.

The study by Tesco Mobile revealed Paranormal Research UK have seen a 70 percent upsurge in paranormal evidence in the last year due to people using their phones.

"We'd recommend those brave enough to capture any spooky sightings should MMS or email their pics to the paranormal society for investigation," Lance Batchelor, CEO of Tesco Mobile said.

"Keep your camera phone on the highest quality resolution setting and use the recorder to capture the noise of any spectral sounds," he added. (ANI)

10 Classic Cases Of Mass Hysteria

by Joan Seth

Mass hysteria is the common term used to describe a situation in which various people all suffer from similar hysterical symptoms – either from a phantom illness or an inexplicable event. This list looks at ten of the most well known cases of Mass Hysteria – from the past and present.

1. Angels of Mons

During the Battle of Mons in Belgium during World War I in 1914, a group of angels supposedly protected British troops fighting German troops. Descriptions of angelic warriors fighting alongside the understrength British army was postulated. But did it really happen?

The evidence suggests that this story is fictitious, developed through a combination of a patriotic short story by Arthur Machen, rumors, mass hysteria and urban legends, and also possibly deliberately seeded propaganda.

2. The London Monster

During the late 18th century, London was plagued by mysterious knife attacks. Initial accounts from the female victims claimed that the perpetrator stalked them and stab them in their back.

Later, the claims were more dubious, like the attacker had knives tied to his knees. When this became popular and people realized the Monster only seemed to attack beautiful rich women, girls began to injure themselves and say the Monster attacked them to get attention.

Although a man was convicted of the attacks, many people believed that the attacks never happened at all.

3. The Halifax Slasher

There was a series of reported attacks on local people, mostly women in Halifax, England in November 1938. The victims claim to have been attacked by a mysterious man with a mallet and "bright buckles" on his shoes.

After many victims came forward claiming to have been attacked by the Slasher, one of them admitted that the injuries were self inflicted; subsequently other victims also had the same admission.

The police dismissed the case as Mass Hysteria.

4. Fan Death

Fan death is a South Korean urban legend. It is said that an electric fan, left running overnight in a closed room, can cause the death of those inside (by suffocation, poisoning, or hypothermia). Fans manufactured and sold in Korea are equipped with a timer switch that turns them off after a set number of minutes, which users are frequently urged to set when going to sleep with a fan on.

This is so widely believed that the press report it as fact. However, experts have stated that cases of victims of Fan Death were not killed as a result of hypothermia, but rather existing medical conditions like heart attack or alcoholism.

There is little scientific evidence to support that a fan alone can kill you if you are using it in a sealed room.

5. Mumbai Sweet Water

The 2006 Mumbai "sweet" seawater incident was a phenomenon during which residents of Mumbai claimed that the water at Mahim Creek, one of the most polluted creeks in India had suddenly turned "sweet". The water also receives thousands of tonnes of raw sewage and industrial waste every day. Within hours, residents of Gujarat claimed that seawater at Teethal beach had turned sweet as well.

The authorities had hastily acted to stop the locals from drinking the water, but despite this many people had collected it in bottles, even as plastic and rubbish had drifted by on the current. By 2pm the following day, the devotees said that the water was salty again.

6. Tanganyika laughter epidemic

In Tanganyika, Tanzania in 1962, an outbreak of mass hysteria, or Mass Psychogenic Illness (MPI) was said to have occurred in a village on the western coast of Lake Victoria.

Initially, a joke was told in a boarding school, and that this joke triggered a small group of students to start laughing. The laughter spread, and spread so much, that the entire school of students couldn't stop laughing. Eventually the school was shut down.

But the story does not end here; the laughter spread to neighboring villages and schools. Thousands of people were affected. Six to eighteen months after it started, the phenomenon died off.

7. June Bug Epidemic

In 1962 a mysterious disease broke out in a dressmaking department of a US textile factory. The symptoms included numbness, nausea, dizziness, and vomiting. Word of a bug in the factory that would bite its victims and develop the above symptoms quickly spread.

62 employees were diagnosed with this mysterious illness, some of whom were hospitalized. The news media reported on the case. After research by company physicians and experts from the US Public Health Service Communicable Disease Center, it was concluded that the case was one of mass hysteria.

While the researchers believed some workers were bitten by the bug, anxiety was likely the cause of the symptoms. No evidence was ever found for a bug which could cause the above flu-like symptoms, nor did all workers demonstrate bites.

8. The Dancing Plague

In July 1518, a case of dancing mania occurred in Strasbourg, France. Many people went to the streets and started dancing without rest. Within a month, at least 400 people had joined in the dancing.

However, instead of curing them, the authorities encouraged more dancing, in part by opening two guildhalls and a grain market, and even constructing a wooden stage. The authorities did this because they believed that the dancers would only recover if they danced continually night and day. Eventually, most of these people died from heart attack, stroke, or exhaustion.

It has been thought in recent years that mass psychogenic illness, ergot poisoning and neurological disorders could explain this dancing plague.

9. The War of the Worlds

The War of the Worlds was a American radio drama board-casted over radio on October 30, 1938. It was based on the story by H.G. Wells, about a Martian invasion of Earth.

The first two thirds of the 60-minute broadcast were presented as a series of simulated "news bulletins", which suggested to many listeners that an actual alien invasion by Martians was currently in progress.

Some listeners heard only a portion of the broadcast, and in the atmosphere of tension and anxiety leading to World War II, took it to be a news broadcast. Newspapers reported that panic ensued, people fleeing the area, others thinking they could smell poison gas or could see flashes of lightning in the distance. Some people called CBS, newspapers or the police in confusion over the realism of the news bulletins. There were instances of panic throughout the US as a result of the broadcast, especially in New York and New Jersey.

There has been speculation that this whole episode was a psychological warfare experiment conducted by the US government. Anyway, War of the Worlds and the panic have become examples of mass hysteria and the delusions of crowds.

10. Gloria Ramirez, the Toxic Lady

In the evening of February 19, 1994, Gloria Ramirez was brought into Riverside General Hospital by paramedics, suffering from bradycardia and Cheyne-Stokes respiration.

The medical staff tried to treat her; when she responded poorly to the treatment, they resorted to a defibrillator. Soon, staff noticed her skin had oily sheen and a fruity odor was coming from her body. Her blood had manila colored patches in it and was giving off an ammonia-like smell.

Soon, a nurse fainted, and several staff followed suit. An emergency was declared and all the other emergency room patients were evacuated outside. A small crew of staff remained to stabilize Ramirez. However, after forty five minutes of CPR and defibrillation, Gloria Ramirez was pronounced dead from kidney failure related to her cancer.

Explanations include: Ramirez's body chemicals and drugs she took for her illness combined into poison; the hospital staff accidentally mixed up the drug usage and tried to cover up the incident or chemical reaction mechanisms due to urine mixing with bleach in a nearby sink created toxic gases.

However, I suppose it would be simpler to conclude this as a case of Mass Hysteria. Somehow, the first nurse got sick through other means, then it affected the rest of the staff and they all fell sick.

Proving Ghosts With Film

By Chris Capps

As with any aspect of the paranormal, it's notoriously difficult to capture images and footage of ghosts in a way that could presumably make a believer out of skeptics once and for all. But suppose a film did exist that would challenge the very foundation of skepticism? What would it look like? And more importantly, how would it have to be captured?

First, it's easy to look at a picture or video of a ghost - however eerie - and still be able to understand why others find if so easy to categorically deny its paranormal nature. With digital editing effects, such an image would have to break from convention several times over not only in the content of its frames, but the way in which the footage was taken. Hopefully, if a ghost is consistently and reliably appearing in a location regularly this will serve as a model to document it in such a way that a foolproof case for the paranormal can be created.

First, the objects involved would have to demonstrate impossible physics. The ghost would have to be somewhat transparent or otherwise demonstrate it was not simply a person walking past the camera. If it were an incorporeal ball of light or strand of energy, it would have to demonstrate that it was not a dust particle by either passing through another object or floating and hovering in a very deliberate way.

Second, the actual footage itself would be far more convincing if it came from multiple angles at the same time or from multiple cameras. Of course this may be impossible according to paranormal investigators as the images on film and on camera may be not actually observed by the lens, but rather burned directly into the film itself or the digital information stored within the camera. Still, if this is the case then it may behoove investigators to ask the paranormal entity to burn images on the film that quite simply cannot be faked such as complex words or shapes added directly to the videotape itself in a way that could not be faked coupled with an accompanying audio track informing the viewer of the entity's intentions. Such a request, if granted, would make it difficult for even the most staunch skeptics to ignore.

Additionally, as one of the criteria of scientific proof involve the ability to reproduce the results repeatedly with a reasonable expectation as to the results, it may be necessary for a ghost or other paranormal entity to demonstrate this reliably by making multiple films. If this were possible, the ghost would no doubt be able to demonstrate it was repeatedly proving its existence rather than simply appearing as an anomaly. It is the anomalous nature of ghosts and the paranormal that make it so difficult to prove on the whole. If even one entity were to commit to the process of proving its existence to humans, it would be that much easier. And it would certainly be worth the effort for the rewards to the rest of humanity.

In Turkey lies Noah's Ark

Many believe that Mount Ararat in Turkey hold the remains of Noah's Ark

Could the Ark of Noah that the Bible speak be actually true and really located in Turkey?

Quran or Bible's Declearation of NOAH'S ARK ?

Quran 11-44. And it was said: "O earth! Swallow up your water, and O sky! Withhold (your rain)." And the water was diminished (made to subside) and the Decree (of Allaah) was fulfilled (i.e. the destruction of the people of Nuh (Noah). AND IT (THE SHIP) RESTED ON MOUNT JUDI, and it was said: "Away with the people who are Zalimuun (polytheists and wrong-doing)!"

Martin Wroe, LONDON - Noah's Ark has been found on the Turkish-Iranian border, 32 kilometres from Mount Ararat, according to the leader of a team of scientists that has been investigating the site for six years.

The Turkish government is so convinced by the findings that, after years of intransigence, it has designated the site one of special archaeological interest and agreed to its excavation next summer.

The remote site contains a buried, ship-like object, resting an altitude of 2,300 metres. At 170 metres long and 45 metres wide, it conforms almost exactly to the 300 cubit by 50 cubit boat that God told Noah to build, according to Genesis 6 in the Bible.

On surrounding terrain, the American and Middle Eastern scientists have identified huge stones with holes carved at one end, which they believe are "drogue-stones," dragged behind ships in the ancient world to stabilise them. Radar soundings indicate unusual levels of iron-oxide distribution.

Salih Bayraktutan, head of geology at Turkey's Ataturk University, estimates the age of the 'vessel' at more than 100,000 years. "It is a man-made structure and for sure it is Noah's Ark." The site is directly below the mountain of Al Judi, named in the Koran as the Ark's resting place.

David Fasold, an American shipwreck specialist with no religious affiliation, has led the investigation. He says subsurface radar surveys of the site have produced "very good pictures." "The radar imagery at about 25 metres down from the stern is so clear that you can count the floorboards between the walls."

He believes the team has found the fossilised remains of the upper deck and that the original reed substructure has disappeared. But the findings have infuriated the scores of Christian Ark-hunters who travel to Turkey, convinced the Ark will only be found on Mount Ararat.

Some of Fasold's team of geophysicists and geologists are reserving final judgement until the excavation and carbon-dating. But in a British TV series on the environment next month, team member Vendyl Jones, a Middle East archaeologist and inspiration for film character Indiana Jones, says it is "between maybe and probably" that they have found Noah's Ark.

Noah's Ark discovery in Turkey

Turkish daily news hurriyet reports that a group of Hong Kong and Turkish evangelical explorers said Monday they believe they may have found Noah's Ark at the top of Turkey’s legendary Mount Ararat.

The biblical story says God decided to flood the earth after seeing how corrupt it had become and told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.

After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain. Many believe Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and its inhabitants came aground

Harry Potter blamed for fuelling India owls' demise

Indian Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh has blamed fans of boy wizard Harry Potter for their role in the dwindling number of wild owls.

He said that Harry Potter books and films featuring his feathered friend Hedwig are popular in India and had contributed towards the demise of owls.

Mr Ramesh said there had been an increase in people wanting to buy them from illegal bird traders.

He was speaking to mark the launch of a report on India's owl population.

Written by the leading conservation group, Traffic, the report calls for tougher measures to protect owls ahead of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, which is being celebrated on Friday.

It says that thousands of owls are traditionally sacrificed on "auspicious" occasions.

'Strangest demands'

"Following Harry Potter, there seems to be a strange fascination even among the urban middle classes for presenting their children with owls," Mr Ramesh said.

Owls play an important role in Harry Potter films Harry Potter publishers Bloomsbury declined to comment on Mr Ramesh's assertions.

The report's author, Abrar Ahmed, wrote that he decided to investigate the owl trade after being asked by a friend to procure a live white-coloured owl for her son's Harry Potter-themed 10th birthday party.

"This was probably one of the strangest demands made to me as an ornithologist," he wrote.

His research found that growing number of owls, a highly endangered species in India, are now being trapped, traded or killed in black magic rituals.

The report says that half of India's 30 species of owl can be found on sale in markets.

Others are killed for medicinal purposes.

"The sacrifice of owls on auspicious occasions appears to be a regular practice and [there could be] a possible increase in trade and sacrifices around Diwali," the Imperilled Custodians of the Night report says.

Boo! Chinese & European Monsters Strangely, Eerily Similar

There's something inside us that loves a good monster. We want them scary. We want them surprising.

But apparently not too surprising. Across time and across cultures, our monsters come in strangely predictable forms.

Take, for example, these guys:

This is a Five Monster Collection from a 2000 year old text. Back in the first century, AD, Pliny the Elder, a great Roman scholar, collected descriptions of creatures who lived at the very edge of the known world. Sailors claimed to have seen them. Travelers too. They'd shown up in folktales. They didn’t look like Europeans because they lived far enough away that it was ok to look — well, like anything one could imagine. So here’s what Europeans imagined way back then (courtesy of Toby Lester, from his enchanting book The Fourth Part of the World):

2,000 Fetuses Found At Thai Buddhist Temple: Guman Tong Cult

BANGKOK- Thai police investigating a strong smell emanating from a Buddhist temple have found more than 2,000 fetuses hidden in the complex's morgue that appear to have come from illegal abortion clinics.

During an initial investigation at the temple in Bangkok on Tuesday, police discovered piles of plastic bags containing more than 300 fetuses. Police Lt. Col. Kanathud Musiganont said workers pulled more bodies from the temple's morgue Friday. More than 2,000 have been unearthed from vaults where bodies are traditionally interred pending cremation, which under some circumstances can take place years after death.

Abortion is illegal in Thailand except under three conditions – if a woman is raped, if the pregnancy affects her health or if the fetus is abnormal. This make it's a prime market for Guman Tong practictioners, since fetuses are a primary spell component in the ritual.

Paul the Octopus Is Dead, Long Live Bo Si, the "Psychic" Panda

Who couldn't have seen this coming?

The world of predictions is such a fickle place. If you thought that 2010 was going to be remembered for Paul the Octopus's psychic World Cup predictions (and exclusive interview with TIME's World Cup blog) then you were wrong. For we have a new player on the scene and he ain't gonna be turned into paella anytime soon.

China is currently enthralled by the exploits of a panda who goes by the name of Bo Si. He plumped for a Chinese athlete to be the first gold medal winner of the Asian Games, which are taking place in Guangzhou in Bo Si's home nation. Lo and behold, the sportsman Yuan Xiaochao promptly won for the martial art of wushu.

How did Bo Si do it? He was given two choices: a bamboo shoot, which represents a Chinese winner, or an apple, which equates to a foreigner. The fact that pandas exist on a bamboo diet and that the host nation are firm favorites to top of the medals table and have the biggest squad at the Games are clearly coincidental factors that must never be mentioned again.

UFO in Singapore

6/27/2010 - I was up on the top of the Sands Hotel taking pictures of the city and I thought I would get a picture of the Singapore Harbor before it got too dark. That is when I noticed a black dot in my picture. I zoomed in on the object and took about 5 pictures at 300mm then took a couple more with it over the harbor for comparison. I walked over to another photographer that had a larger lens and ask him to see if he could get closer. He told me that it was a UFO and he has a bunch of pictures of them and sees them all the time. This photo is at 200mm and the insert is at 400 times view at 300mm. I turned to get a few more pictures of it and it was gone.

Summary List of Eurasia Vampires

Eurasia Vampires

Pretty difficult to really explain Eurasia, but to make it simple, It is basically countries which are strategically in terms of geographical location, located at the bordering areas between Asia and Europe.

Such nations to generalize it, are Eurasia countries as they are somewhat and somehow half Asian and half Europe in someway or another.

The below will be a summary list of some of Vampires of the Eurasia region.

Armenia - Dakhanavar

Dakhanavar protected a valley near Mount Ararat by sucking blood from the feet of travellers. When two men slept with their feet under each other's heads Dakhanavar mistook them for a monster with two heads and no feet and was never heard of again.

Poland - Upier

A unusual Vampires as it rises at midday and returns to sleep at midnight. It is said to have a barbed tongue and consumes vast quantities of blood. This creature's fascination with blood goes much further than normal vampires as it sleeps in blood as well. It is related to the Upir and Upyr.

Ukraine - Upir

Vampire that is noted for its desire to eat large amounts of fish. It is related to Upier and Upyr.

Russia (Upyr)

This Vampire is considered to be extremely vicious. It will first attack children and then continue on to kill the parents. As with the Upier, the Upyr rises during the day and sleeps at night, and in doing so has a fairly human appearance. It is related to Upir and Upier.

Poland and Russia (Upierczi )

Vampires from Poland and Russia. They are victims who became into a Vampire who are of a result of Suicide, violent death or practice of witchcraft during its lifetime. Heretics, witches and suicides were thought to turn into Vampirs, Uppyr or Upierczi after death.

They are said to be the cause of droughts, and they go as far as drying the dew on plants. They have a sting under the tongue instead of the fangs and they are active from noon to midnight.

To rid themselves of the Upierczi , they had to drown it in a lake or river (salt water was not indicated). If it were transfixed with a nail, it could be hit no more than once or it would revive. It isd most advisable to destroy them by the means of burning. When burned, the body will burst, giving rise to hundreds of small, disgusting animals (maggots, rats, etc.). If any of these creatures escape then the Upierczi's spirit will escape too, and will return to seek revenge.

Russia (Ereticy or Erestuny)

Ereticy or Erestuny were re-animated corpses brought back by sorcerers to begin feeding on their relatives. They also fed on or women who'd sold their souls to Satan. They slept on graves and made noises in the public bathrooms

The ereticy of old women who sold their soul to the Devil or people who were excommunicated for heresy by the Church. Such heretical beings arise as vampires after their death, and were thought to sleep in the coffins of the impious. The ereticy were attributed with the evil eye and coming into contact with one generally guaranteed that you were doomed to waste away and die.

Russia ( Vourdalak )

It is a Vampire, considered in Russian folklore to be a beautiful but evil woman

Albanians of Turkish descent who become into vampires upon their deaths are driven to go out at night in a shroud and high heel shoes to spread death and destructions. The location of their tombs can be incated by a will-o'-the-wisp.

Like the rest of Eastern Europe, these legends were reported more frequently after the 16th Century - the Eastern Orthodoxy's flexible position on superstition seems to be a major cause for the myth's increase in popularity.

Albanian names for undead vampires include:
Kukuthi
Kukudhi
Lugat
Vrykolakas
Vorkolaka

Lugat / Kukuthi

Lugat is a vampire that was invulnerable to any form of attack humans could use. Only wolves could inflict harm onto them. The Lugat feeds on the living, but the act of feeding does not kill the victim.

Some of the northern Albanian mountain tribes had the belief that an undead vampire, which they call either a Kukuthi or a Lugat grows stronger with time until. After thirty years, when it reachs a final stage where he is no longer required to return to its grave and can live in a home during the day just like a human.

It travels alot under a disguise of a merchant. Before the lapse of the thirty year period following burial, the vampire can be destroyed in its grave by such means as driving a stake through its heart, cutting the tendons behind the knee caps (ham stringing), and especially cremation which is most recommended.

The Kukuthi or Lugat can only be destroyed by a wolf. This is done by when if you can get the wolf to bite away the vampire's legs off. The vampire would then retreats to his grave and never leaves it again.

Some Albanians share the names Vrykolakas and Vorkolak with their Greek and Macedonian neighbors and also the beliefs that go with them.

Sampiro

Sampiro is another vampire in Albanian lore. Which stalks its victims wearing heeled shoes and a shroud.

The Sampiro rises from its grave shortly after it's internment, about 3-4 hours. It rises dressed in its grave shroud, and is described in all of the folklore wearing high heels with large, bright glowing eyes.

Sampiro cannot walk too well on the high heels and hence it "toddles" after it's victim (which in the beginning of it's "career" tends to be close family members or other loved ones) in an unbalanced kind of way. If they are lucky enough to catch their victim, then it means certain death. If their victim gets away, they have been known to stop at cottages and homes along the way and peer into windows. It is said that if the gaze of their strange glowing eyes falls on any people in that home, those people will come down with an illness, sometimes a fatal one, within days. In this way, the Sampiro is in fact more virulent than other vampires since they can make entire households fatally ill just by walking after one victim and then walking back to return to their grave site.

Albanian people believed that any person with any Turkish blood in them would become a Sampiro. Another interesting note, says that a Sampiro was able to flush out a "real" vampire therefore sometimes people that were half Albanian/half Turkish made a living by being "vampire hunters", believing that after death, they would become a Sampiro. Usually they had arrangements made for decapitation special burial rites with their village priest for the time of their death to save them from this fate and ensure their way to heaven.

Prehistoric UFO and ET images found in remote cave in India

A group of anthropologists working with hill tribes in a remote area of India have made a startling discovery: Intricate prehistoric cave paintings depicting aliens and UFO type craft.

The images were found in the Hoshangabad district of the state of Madhya Pradesh only 70 kilometers from the local administrative centre of Raisen. The caves are hidden deep within dense jungle.

A clear image of what might be an alien or ET in a space suit can be seen in one cave painting along with a classical flying saucer shaped UFO that appears to be either beaming something down or beaming something up, in what might be an ancient UFO abduction scenario. A force-field or trail of some sort is seen at the rear of the UFO.

Also visible is another object that might depict a wormhole, explaining how aliens were able to reach Earth. This image may lead UFO enthusiasts to conclude that the images might have been drawn with the involvement of aliens themselves.

Bigfoot's Many Cousins

By Chris Capps

When recently looking over a list of proposed and suspected cryptids, I was once again amazed at how many of them appear to be listed as primates or apelike. Is there reason folk stories so commonly tell tales of mysterious apelike creatures even in regions where no such creatures (or anything even resembling them) are said to exist? Is there a cultural niche such a legend fills in societies? Or is there another reason so many report seeing strange hairy creatures living in the wild that seem in their own way almost human?

The idea of Bigfoot or Sasquatch is fairly interesting on its own. The idea of a creature that could have escaped scientific scrutiny when so many other creatures have been labeled and categorized is a legend that has endured numerous scientific attempts to discredit it.

What are Russian Vampires All About ? ( Что русскому Вампиры Все О? )

Russia is an Eurasian country , which is partially Asian and partially European. It has been often a question of if Russia is Europe or Asia as it has both many factors that makes Asian and European.

Upyr – Upierczi - Ereticy - Erestuny - Vourdalak

During the 15th to 16th centuries, Vampires are very well known in many places of both Europe and Eurasia ! Often, Cult would offer sacrifices to the Vampires existing among the ancient Slavs. Sometimes, Vampire in a figurative sense can also be used for referring of an extortionist , a Curel person or an exploiter.

In the old superstitions Vampires is known as Upyr , Upior in Russia, Ukraine , Upiór, Upierzica for the Poles , Upir for the Czechs, Upir for the Serbs, Upra for Byelorussia and Vapir, Vupir for the Bulgarians.

Russian Vampires belong to the undead classifications and is said be a corpse possessed by the devil sometimes. Commonly, they are known as Upir but sometimes spelled as Upyr as well.

In Slavic folk beliefs, this corpse will comes out of the grave to harm people and to suck living people's blood.

To Destroy a Eastern Slavic vampire includes driving a wooden stake through the exhumed corpse's heart or other critical parts of the body, decapitation as well as Cremation. In certain districts, this corpse of a suspected to be a vampire was simply being dumped into a lake or river.

In the northern and central parts of Russia and some other parts of the general region, eretich (literally meaning "heretic") came to be a special term for a vampire, applied to anyone who became an undead vampire as the result of dying outside the Christian Orthodox Faith.

But it applied the most, especially to evil sorcerers and witches who returned from graves after dying and who had sold their souls to the devil while they were still alive. In an account from one district in central European Russia, the eretiches were women who had sold their souls to the devil. After their death, they passed as living women and specialized in turning living Orthodox Christians against their faith. At night they slept in graveyards, occupying the graves of those who died unfaithful.

Sorcery and vampirism also combined in the belief that even a good person could become an Upir after he died by the intervention of an evil sorcerer who magically took possession of his soul.

Upyr ( Russia)

This Vampire is considered to be extremely vicious. It will first attack children and then continue on to kill the parents. As with the Upier, the Upyr rises during the day and sleeps at night, and in doing so has a fairly human appearance. It is related to Upir and Upier.
