China: Secret Pilot UFO file released

China: Secret Pilot UFO file released

A detailed UFO report of an incident involving a commercial pilot that includes radar images and recordings of the conversation between the pilot and the airport tower has just been made public in China. The report was released at a scientific forum held in Shanghai.

The event occurred on March 18 in the morning in Shanghai. Later that day hundreds of readers rang a local newspaper ‘The Xinmin Evening Times’ to report a strange object they had seen in the sky. One of these callers was the Tower Manager at Hongqiao Airport, Mr Jin Xin. He mentioned that a UFO had been spotted by tower staff and picked up by radar and that he had the recording.

Mr Jin Xin added that he requested that a pilot due to take off at exactly the same time chase the object and the pilot, who agreed, had reported that the UFO, seemingly made of two parts, was circling around his plane. A transcript of the conversation between the pilot and tower control has also been preserved.

The pilot witnessed the UFO for no less than 9 minutes and described the UFO in the conversation with the tower as initially a glowing fireball displaying extraordinary flight characteristics and quickly shifting position before ‘Descending sharply, changing colour from red to black and then separating into two objects: The top one a sphere, the bottom a rectangle. The craft travelled in a Northeast direction at level flight before climbing and disappearing.’

Turkey considers fate of detained Iran Raelian leader

Raelians believe humans were created by extra-terrestrials

By Jonathan Head
BBC News, Istanbul

The Turkish authorities say they are discussing what to do with an Iranian atheist who says she fled persecution in Iran.

Negar Azizmoradi, who is the leader of the Raelian movement in Iran, was arrested after she arrived in Turkey last week.

Supporters say she faces the death penalty for her beliefs if she returns.

Turkey gives only limited recognition to refugees, and has in the past sent back Iranian asylum-seekers.

With their libertarian attitude to sex, and their belief that humans were created by extra-terrestrials, Raelians inevitably fall foul of the religious authorities in Iran.

Saudi Arabia steps up hunt for 'witches' and 'black magicians'

When the popular 46-year-old Lebanese psychic Ali Sibat went on-air and made his predictions about the future, the phone lines of the satellite television station Sheherazade used to be flooded with calls.

But what the star psychic probably did not predict was that his claims to supernatural prowess would land him a death sentence...

"He was the most popular psychic on the channel," the Lebanese news agency Naharnet quoted Sibat’s lawyer May Khansa as saying. "The number of callers, including from all over the gulf, spiked in number when he appeared."

But while on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia last year, Sibat was spotted by religious police in the holy city of Medina. Their job it is to battle vice and uphold virtue in the ultraconservative kingdom. So they arrested Sibat in his room at the Medina Hotel on charges of sorcery.

On Nov. 9, Sibat was given a death sentence by a Mecca court for allegedly practicing witchcraft.

Sibat’s fate is common in Saudi Arabia.

Snake with foot found in China

A snake with a single clawed foot has been discovered in China, according to reports.

"I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound. I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw," said Mrs Duan of Suining, southwest China.

Mrs Duan said she was so scared she grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death before preserving its body in a bottle of alcohol.

The snake – 16 inches long and the thickness of a little finger – is now being studied at the Life Sciences Department at China's West Normal University in Nanchang.

Snake expert Long Shuai said: "It is truly shocking but we won't know the cause until we've conducted an autopsy."

Lost world of fanged frogs and giant rats discovered in Papua New Guinea

The following correction was printed in the Guardian's Corrections and clarifications column, Friday 11 September 2009 Reporting (below) an expedition's claim to have found many unidentified animal species in a volcano crater, we referred to the "island of Papua New Guinea"; that is the country occupying part of the island of New Guinea.

A lost world populated by fanged frogs, grunting fish and tiny bear-like creatures has been discovered in a remote volcanic crater on the Pacific island of Papua New Guinea.

'A giant woolly rat never before seen by science' Link to this audio A team of scientists from Britain, the United States and Papua New Guinea found more than 40 previously unidentified species when they climbed into the kilometre-deep crater of Mount Bosavi and explored a pristine jungle habitat teeming with life that has evolved in isolation since the volcano last erupted 200,000 years ago. In a remarkably rich haul from just five weeks of exploration, the biologists discovered 16 frogs which have never before been recorded by science, at least three new fish, a new bat and a giant rat, which may turn out to be the biggest in the world.

Iraq Swears by Bomb Detector

BAGHDAD — Despite major bombings that have rattled the nation, and fears of rising violence as American troops withdraw, Iraq’s security forces have been relying on a device to detect bombs and weapons that the United States military and technical experts say is useless.

The small hand-held wand, with a telescopic antenna on a swivel, is being used at hundreds of checkpoints in Iraq. But the device works “on the same principle as a Ouija board” — the power of suggestion — said a retired United States Air Force officer, Lt. Col. Hal Bidlack, who described the wand as nothing more than an explosives divining rod.

Still, the Iraqi government has purchased more than 1,500 of the devices, known as the ADE 651, at costs from $16,500 to $60,000 each. Nearly every police checkpoint, and many Iraqi military checkpoints, have one of the devices, which are now normally used in place of physical inspections of vehicles.

Pelabuhanratu (Indonesia) - A resort with a ghost

Author: Peter Janssen

Few public relations officers would deem a ghost with a fondness for green bathing suits as a great selling point for a beach resort, but don't tell that to the hoteliers of Pelabuhanratu--one of Jakarta's favorite getaways.

Pelabuhanratu, a picturesque seaside resort 90 kilometers south of Jakarta as the crow flies but four hours drive as the road winds, is a popular weekend retreat from Indonesia's bustling capital that has remained remarkably underdeveloped over the decades.

Sukarno, Indonesia's first president and a avid hotel builder, between 1962-65 constructed the Samudra Beach Hotel--now part of the government's INNA Hotel Group--on the stretch of black sand beach that extends to the west of Pelabuhanratu town.

Rumor has it he intended the 100-room establishment to become Indonesia's first casino, a dream that was not to be. The hotel site is near one of the resort's chief tourist attractions, the Karang Hawu cliff, an impressive Java flow formation from which the legendary Nyai Loro Kidul (Princess of the South Sea) flung herself into the waves below in an effort to restore her beauty and end a run of bad luck.

Under Sukarno's instructions, Room 308 at the Samudra Beach Hotel has always been left vacant for Nyai Loro Kidul.

One of the youth crashed at a dark stretch of the road, which is actually a very sharp corner. There have been claims about sightings of a young man riding a motorcycle at high speed, who mysteriously vanished in the dark.

A Little Lesson in Japanese Ghost Lore

Author: NLD

Japan, like any other country, is steeped in ghostly lore. Here are a few more common Japanese spirits for you to read about and be eerily amazed.

Bakechochin
Translated as “haunted Lantern”, in Japanese folklore a bakechochin is a lantern inhabited by ghosts. According to folklore the lantern has a long tongue and wild eyes and is home for the ghosts of people who died with hate in their hearts; for this reason, they are doomed to haunt the earth for all time. If someone should light one of the haunted lanterns it is thought that a hateful ghost may leap out of it and attack.

Buruburu
Buruburu, meaning the sound of shivering, is a terrible ghost from Japanese folklore that for reasons unknown is said to lurk in forests and graveyards in the form of an old person, who is sometimes one-eyed. According to legend it attaches itself to its victim’s spine and causes a chill to run down them, or in the worse case causes them to die of fright.

Gashadokuro
A Gashadokuro according to Japanese folklore is a giant skeleton many times taller than a human. It is though to be made of the bones of people who have starved to death. After midnight the ghost roams the streets making a ringing noise that sounds in the ears. If people do not run away when the Gashadokuro approaches it will bite off their heads with its giant teeth.

Yeti Project Japan’ find questinable footprint

By: Javier Ortega
In this combination picture from Yeti Project Japan, what is alleged to be the footprint of a yeti (left) is measured on the Dhaulagiri mountain northwest of Pokhara and compared to a human footprint (right).

A TEAM of Japanese adventurers say they have discovered footprints made by the legendary yeti, which is said to roam the Himalayan regions of Nepal.

“The footprints were about 20cm long and looked like a human’s,” Yoshiteru Takahashi, the leader of the Yeti Project Japan, said.

Takahashi was speaking after he returned with his seven-member team from their third attempt to track down the half-man-half-ape, tales of which have gripped the imaginations of Western adventurers and mountaineers for decades.

Despite spending 42 days on Dhaulagiri IV – a 7661m peak where they say they have seen traces of yetis in the past – the team failed in their prime objective of capturing one on film.

But Takahashi said the footprints were proof enough...
