Official Statement from NASA about Dec 21 2012

Beyond 2012: Why the World Won't End

Dec. 21, 2012, won't be the end of the world as we know, however, it will be another winter solstice.

Contrary to some of the common beliefs out there, the claims behind the end of the world quickly unravel when pinned down to the 2012 timeline.

Question (Q): Are there any threats to the Earth in 2012? Many Internet websites say the world will end in December 2012.
Answer (A):The world will not end in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012.

Q: What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012?
A: The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012 and linked to the end of one of the cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the winter solstice in 2012 -- hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

Q: Does the Mayan calendar end in December 2012?
A: Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012. This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then -- just as your calendar begins again on January 1 -- another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar.

Q: Is NASA predicting a "total blackout" of Earth on Dec. 23 to Dec. 25?
A: Absolutely not. Neither NASA nor any other scientific organization is predicting such a blackout. The false reports on this issue claim that some sort of "alignment of the Universe" will cause a blackout. There is no such alignment (see next question). Some versions of this rumor cite an emergency preparedness message from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. This is simply a message encouraging people to be prepared for emergencies, recorded as part of a wider government preparedness campaign. It never mentions a blackout.

Q: Could planets align in a way that impacts Earth?
A: There are no planetary alignments in the next few decades and even if these alignments were to occur, their effects on the Earth would be negligible. One major alignment occurred in 1962, for example, and two others happened during 1982 and 2000. Each December the Earth and sun align with the approximate center of the Milky Way Galaxy but that is an annual event of no consequence.
Q: Is there a planet or brown dwarf called Nibiru or Planet X or Eris that is approaching the Earth and threatening our planet with widespread destruction?
A: Nibiru and other stories about wayward planets are an Internet hoax. There is no factual basis for these claims. If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth in 2012, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye. Obviously, it does not exist. Eris is real, but it is a dwarf planet similar to Pluto that will remain in the outer solar system; the closest it can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.

Q: What is the polar shift theory? Is it true that the Earth's crust does a 180-degree rotation around the core in a matter of days if not hours?
A: A reversal in the rotation of Earth is impossible. There are slow movements of the continents (for example Antarctica was near the equator hundreds of millions of years ago), but that is irrelevant to claims of reversal of the rotational poles. However, many of the disaster websites pull a bait-and-switch to fool people. They claim a relationship between the rotation and the magnetic polarity of Earth, which does change irregularly, with a magnetic reversal taking place every 400,000 years on average. As far as we know, such a magnetic reversal doesn’t cause any harm to life on Earth. Scientists believe a magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next few millennia.

Q: Is the Earth in danger of being hit by a meteor in 2012?
A: The Earth has always been subject to impacts by comets and asteroids, although big hits are very rare. The last big impact was 65 million years ago, and that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Today NASA astronomers are carrying out a survey called the Spaceguard Survey to find any large near-Earth asteroids long before they hit. We have already determined that there are no threatening asteroids as large as the one that killed the dinosaurs. All this work is done openly with the discoveries posted every day on the NASA Near-Earth Object Program Office website, so you can see for yourself that nothing is predicted to hit in 2012.

Q: How do NASA scientists feel about claims of the world ending in 2012?
A: For any claims of disaster or dramatic changes in 2012, where is the science? Where is the evidence? There is none, and for all the fictional assertions, whether they are made in books, movies, documentaries or over the Internet, we cannot change that simple fact. There is no credible evidence for any of the assertions made in support of unusual events taking place in December 2012.

Q: Is there a danger from giant solar storms predicted for 2012?
A: Solar activity has a regular cycle, with peaks approximately every 11 years. Near these activity peaks, solar flares can cause some interruption of satellite communications, although engineers are learning how to build electronics that are protected against most solar storms. But there is no special risk associated with 2012. The next solar maximum will occur in the 2012-2014 time frame and is predicted to be an average solar cycle, no different than previous cycles throughout history.

Spooky West: Mysterious Jurong Well

by Master Oregon Chang and team members

Quote from Master Oregon Chang: I recall when I was young my father used to tell me stories of his youth. One story about the old village where my father stayed was quite interesting. Thus, I decided to find out more about it.

This so called village has been abandoned for many years and now lies in ruins. There were rumours that there was an old well somewhere in this village and it was haunted by a female ghost. This was interesting enough to warrant Team Asia Paranormal to make a trip to investigate.

Part 1: Day time recee

Upon further clarification with Master Oregon's father, we found out that the location of the village was somewhere in Jurong West. The map below shows the location of the village as indicated by the red circle.

The star and the red circle shows the "entrance area".

Once we had determined the location, Team Asia Paranormal set out to do a daytime recee of the place. Our first impressions upon reaching the place was that there was a main road which seems to be abandoned but definitely was used by cars once upon a time.

Next we also observed that there were no houses or buildings whatsoever, instead there were huge forested areas.

This is the so called "entrance" of the village area. Note the roads are still in working condition.

More pics of the "entrance area"

Overall it feels quite peaceful and quiet in this area. The only sign of human activity was the rubbish left behind by foreign workers who perhaps hang out this area? Nevertheless, Team Asia Paranormal decided to cut through one of the broken fenced area to continue exploring the main road.

The broken "fenced" area. The team bypassed it and went further down the road.

A collapsed lamp post acting as a "barrier" to the place?

A weird circular shape on the ground. Something big and circular must have been placed here once.

Team Asia Paranormal then continued further in this main road. On both sides of the road were forested areas. No signs of any village or even a well can be seen. It certainly felt like those days back when we were serving National Service and doing outfield combat training.

Trees, trees and more trees.

Onward, Team Asia Paranormal continued. After walking for a few minutes, we encountered a fallen tree blocking the path. We could have passed through the trees and continued on, but the weather was getting gloomy and thus Team Asia Paranormal decided to terminate the investigation and return another day.

The collapsed trees blocking the path

In conclusion, Team Asia Paranormal did not managed to find any traces of a abandoned old village nor any haunted wells. The only signs of human activity were rubbish left behind.

It can be said that the main road and the street lamps do indicate that there could be a village located here once. However, if there was any haunted well or village, we would have to do a little more exploring to discover them.

Part 2: Night time exploration

Quote from Master Oregon Chang: With our team back to full strength, Team Asia Paranormal decided to continue our exploration of the abandoned village area the following night, armed with our equipment and gadgets.

Team Asia Paranormal gathered back at the entrance area and after getting our bearings, we resumed the exploration. However, one of our members suddenly discovered something bizzare! During our day trip, we had noticed large concrete blocks scattered around the "entrance area". However, this time, there was something else on one of these blocks.

The chinese characters for "Rape"

Who would have written these characters on these blocks? And whatever was their purpose for? And more importantly, how did the team not noticed this during the daytime? This was something very mysterious and bizzare.

Continuing on our journey, we passed the area with the collapsed trees and encountered something weird again. There was a large fallen tree directly across the road however, it was supported by a another fallen tree branch. There was nothing weird at first, later we realized that the odds of this happening by itself were quite small. The smaller branch had to break off and somehow stand up by itself and then the bigger tree trunk would fall directly onto it, creating a support.

It was as if someone was playing with tree trunks and building structures with them!

The smaller tree branch propping up and supporting a larger fallen tree trunk.

Finally, continuing on the journey, Team Asia Paranormal managed to find the well. This was after further exploration of the surrounding areas near the "broken fence" entrance area. We had somehow missed this during the daytime again!

Along the left side of the road, there was a small pathway through the forested area. Also, there was a small wooden plank placed across the drains acting as a bridge. Bashing through this pathway, we discovered the well at last.

The mysterious well at last!

The surrounding areas of this well were quite ordinary enough. There was no buildings nor any signs of human activity whatsoever (except for rubbish left behind). The well looked ordinary enough. There was a canvas netting placed over the opening and there were three huge concrete blocks placed over it.

Was it to deter someone from going in or more mysteriously, "something" from coming out?

Team Member Hypeseek decided that we should try to open the well to take a look. Using his engineering expertise, we managed to construct a makeshift lever and pulley system and finally lifted up one of the concrete blocks and removed it to the side.

Inside of the well, we can only see dirty drain water.

It was quite disappointing to say the least. There was nothing inside the well except for the dirty water. We threw a few rocks inside and roughly determined the depth of the well to be maybe 1.5 to 2 meters. Nothing out of the ordinary or creepy was found there.

Finally, Team Asia Paranormal left the well and had a quick discussion. We had achieved our purpose in finding the mysterious well. Master Oregon Chang decided that the team might as well continue on the road to explore what lies further in.

After walking on past endless forested areas along the road (it was about 1 hour later), we finally reached the exit. It was the main road leading to the expressway. No further incidents was of note, Team Asia Paranormal packed up and left in our vehicle for a quick supper and drinks.

The exit is as indicated by the blue circle

In conclusion, it can be said that there probably was some human settlement in this area once, judging by the roads, the street lamps and the well. However, the old village must have been torn down long ago and the residents relocated elsewhere.

The well must have been used to collect water for consumption and usage in the past, after the villagers were relocated, there would have been no further use for it and thus the well was covered up.

There was also no indication of anything traumatic happening here in the past to justify any rumours of hauntings in the well. Whatever there was, we stand little chance of discovering it as the whole area has been long abandoned and in ruins.

The only mysterious incidents of the note: The weird concrete block with the bizarre writing on it and the weird "structure" created by the falling tree branches and trunks.

However, it was refreshing to note that such places do exist in an urban landscape of modern Singapore and we hope that there are more places for Team Asia Paranormal to explore.

Spooky Singapore West Region: Neo Tiew Village

by Master Oregon Chang and team members

One of our team members had served his National Service at Sungei Gedong Camp, which is situated deep within the Lim Chu Kang area of North Western Singapore. He had long heard about an entire estate of HDB which has been abandoned for many years and is rumoured to be haunted. This place is known as Neo Tiew Village and is actually situated near the Sungei Gedong Camp.

Thus, one afternoon, the Team of Asia Paranormal decided to make a trip down to take a look. We had known of the fact that this area is currently a training area for the Singapore Armed Forces, therefore we decided to go in the daytime, in case we run into trouble if there is a live training exercise during the night time.

Before that we did some research, some of the stories regarding this place is as follows:

“Neo Tiew (1883 – 1975) was a pioneer in development of Lim Chu Kang area. He involved in developing roads and setting up schools, clinics and power stations. During World War II, Neo mobilized fellow patriots in aid of the British army in the defence of Lim Chu Kang and Kranji. Sadly, his entire family of 35 was killed in 1942 and only he and his fourth son managed to escape the Japanese.”

"There is a legend that the king of the banana trees was planted behind the flats. One person wanted to strike a fortune in lottery, so he prayed at the tree. He threatened the king by putting seven pins into the tree. After he became rich, he ran off and bought a condo, but forgot to remove the pins. Thus the king of the banana trees died, and the spirit has been seeking revenge since. After this happened, the block of flats became abandoned. “

“In the past, this was a lively estate, when it was built in 1979. The soldiers from the nearby army camps used to frequent its food centers for meals. Then later the place was en bloc in 2002, and the residents evicted elsewhere. Since then, it has been taken over by the SAF for training purposes.”

Here are of photos of its main areas.

General pics of the surroundings

Team Asia Paranormal split in pairs and did a quick walkabout of the main areas, it seems like the whole place is deserted and ruined. There are a lot of signs of neglect and destruction. Even though it was in the daytime, it also does feel very quiet and eerie. There was only the occasional sounds of cars driving past and the cries of birds.

We discover that there are a few blocks of flats, around 6 of them. These are old style HDB flats, only 3 stories high. They all look ruined and neglected. There is also a what we believe is a food center or market and a playground. One of our team members had heard about this playground and it is supposedly haunted, especially during the night. If you hang around this playground at night, it could be dangerous.

The playground rumoured to be very haunted

Other than the signs of wear and tear, we did not detect nor feel anything wrong with the playground.

We decide to proceed into one of the blocks of flats for a quick look. The interior are all full of vandalism and rubbish. There are also army equipment on the ground, no doubt left behind by the training soldiers. There are walls torn down, stairs broken and windows broken.

Joan: This is a Japanese phrase which means "hot"

More rubbish

On the ground lobby, we discovered weirder vandalism.

Who's Chris?

What's K.U.G? A group? Or an organization?

Overall, Neo Tiew feels just like an abandoned town, no feelings of spookiness and eeriness. Finally, we discovered something eerie and horrifying at one of the ground floor lobbies:

Evidence of Satanic rituals or very bored people?

666 is widely known as the number of the Beast (Satan) in the Book of Revelations, while a pentagram is a religious symbol used in Wiccan, Jewish and Christian traditions. If a goat head is included within the pentagram, it is used as the symbol for the Church of Satan.

The Sigil of Baphomet

Was this place used as a place of worship for Satan, including Satanic rituals? Or was this just the work of bored vandals? We could not confirm too much as there were not any signs or evidence of rituals having taken place here.

Dear readers, what do you think?

During our examination of this wall, we heard noises which seem to be people talking. Looking around somemore, we discovered that we were not alone, as there were other people here. They were foreign construction workers, maybe taking a break here or hiding out here.

Finally, Team Asia Paranormal decided to leave the place. We took one last look at the exterior of the place.

These pics were taken from the exterior

Overall, the rumors and legends attached to this place does not do prove much, as though our exploration. One can only imagine that this place was a lively town until a few years ago. Why would it be haunted, since no prominent incidents took place there?

Our Feng Shui expert explains that even though nothing may have happen there, once a place is abandoned, spirits will linger around and attach themselves to that place due to the lack of human activities. Even if human activities are restored, the spirits will still be around and in some cases, angered by the disturbance. Thus a medium or psychic will be required to cleanse the spirits away before humans can come back in again.

Is Bedok Reservoir cursed with bad Feng Shui?

by Oregon Chang with team members

Within the past few months, several incidents occurred in Bedok Reservoir where several bodies were pulled out of the water. A total of 6 accidents occurred in the waters, where at total of 7 people were recovered. Only 1 of these people was lucky to have survived. The others perished in the waters.

There is a saying among the Chinese that: One is an incident, two is an accident, three is a coincidence and if there is four or more then there absolutely must be more than to meets the eye! It is not so simple any more.

Do you believe in this saying?

In our first article, Bedok Reservoir Cursed?, we had discussed whether this place is cursed.

In our follow up posting What is wrong with Bedok Reservoir?, we have proposed that the incidents in Bedok Reservoir are very much likely of a coincidence and convenience. But unfortunately, another case occurred over the past weekend!

As the situation seem to somewhat becomes more serious, Team Asia Paranormal decided to take a look and explore the place itself.

A map of the reservoir

Life buoys can be found quite easily throughout the reservoir

We had in mind this time that there could be a possibility of Feng Shui problems; hence we brought along our Feng Shui equipments and some gadgets to check if what we suspect is indeed really the case.

A Feng Shui compass and a "Ghost Radar" app on iPhone

If you can still remember, we had previously mentioned of some sharp object blinding the eyes of the human, base the map of Bedok Reservoir.

It had somewhat seem that Lucia Lu the China geomancer had that 1 or 2 point in common with team Asia Paranormal's own geomancer, which is about the human head.

In fact there is even an old rumour that we had learnt in which the source and validity cannot be traced and confirmed. This old rumour speaks of that several years ago some Feng Shui master mentioned before that bedok is not suitable for humans accommodations. So is everything coming true now? That we leave it to you.

The so called "Dragon Throat" and "Sharp object"

When we arrived, the reservoir does indeed seem to be convenient as there are bus stops and residential areas nearby.

But however, we do notice that there were many life buoys available at many points. The place overall does seem to be well lighted up.

We also spotted a petrol car patrolling the reservoir. There were many night joggers in the place even up to the wee hours. There were people fishing, having picnic and all sort merry making activities at the place. We even saw quite a few couples having a stroll, and dating there.

A view of the reservoir at night. Notice the orb we captured circled in red

Even though it was late at night, the place was still peaceful, beautiful and quite busy. Hence to really commit suicide totally unseen, unknown, unheard and undetected, it really does not seem too possible, even though and despite that the place is too accessible and convenient.

We didn't really detect anything wrong with the place in the beginning. This was based on our gut feeling though. It was just a ordinary park and reservoir.

A platform. More orbs captured.

We later proceeded to put our Feng Shui stuffs to a test, it does somehow seem to have a little problem on the place. The architecture is not really built to Feng Shui concepts and theory, generally as to speak.

The team members using the Feng Shui measuring tape

This measuring tape measures whether a certain length, width or height is according to good or bad Feng Shui. We measured the fence and barriers of the platform and found out they did not really indicate good Feng Shui.

We had even tried to match it with western technology with the use of Ghost Radar, an iPhone app. This app supposedly tries to detect any electromagnetic signals in the surrounding areas; however it is up to your own conclusions about what the signals really are.

The Ghost Radar detecting a weak signal (Green)

We eventually reach to the sharp object area that we had mentioned in our earlier posting.

The "sharp object" area. Directly opposite is Temasek Poly

Perhaps a coincidence or perhaps not, the negative energy or the so called Yin was really too strong over there. We have received a lot of readings in that area. The Ghost Radar indicated a strong signal while the compass indicated negative energy.

Very strong signal detected (Red)

Something wrong with the energy in this area?

It seems that the possibility of accidents taking place at that spot had a very high chance. Even without our equipments and gadgets, at a glance, the place does not feel right. The place was rather deserted and dark, compared to the other areas.

To make things worst, we had discovered some unusual offerings in that area. The usual way of how Chinese make offerings to the dead had a lot of similarities and it is not like what we had seen. There were bowls of cookies and cups of what we think are soft drinks. However, something was missing and that was joss sticks and candles.

There is something too wrong about the offering and it very difficult to explain and elaborate. It is just very unusual.

We also spotted a floating object in the water nearby. To us, it seems like a ball or a floating buoy. However, the weird thing is that there was only one in the water alone. We were still not certain of what exactly is that object we saw.

Pic of this weird area. The first circle in the middle is where the weird offerings are located. The other circle to the top right is where the weird floating object is.

The weird floating object

The weird floating object

We also took a close up photograph of the weird offerings, but mysteriously the photo did not show up on our cameras later. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide that here.

As we were examining the place closely, suddenly we heard noise in that area which sounded like something had fallen or jumped into the water. Although we looked deep and used all our flashlights to light up that dark area, there was nothing we could see.

Was it someone just threw something into the water? One of the team members suggested it could be a frog jumping into the water. But she later pointed out that we had walked quite a distance round the reservoir, and it was the first time we heard frogs splashing into the water.

Or was it the incident somewhat “repeating itself”? Did the spirit of the suicide victims decided to repeat the process of jumping into the water? The feeling of the place is too problematic and wrong. Finally we had decided to leave the place.

At the carpark area, I then revealed to my team that I thought the floating object in the water looked like a head from a certain angle, but I was not too sure about it.

Team Asia Paranormal then packed up and left the reservoir.

Currently, the number of bodies pulled out from that reservoir totals 7 and we definitely do not wish that there will be 8 body or even more than that from this reservoir. This is definitely not anything good for Singapore.

Team Asia Paranormal do not support or encourage people to end their lives.

No doubt the stress and pressure level in the daily lives of the working class in Singapore is among the highest in the world. But ending your life will not solve anything. If you at your wits' end, depressed, troubled, please seek help. There are many hotlines, organizations and associations in Singapore that can help you with your problems. You are never alone and never alone to face anything. There are people around who love you.

As we end this article, we would like to once again strong advise and emphasize to everyone, treat life seriously. Life is full of meaning and purpose and it is just too precious. Live life to your fullest and make every best out of it.
