If psychic ability exists why can’t anyone predict winning lottery numbers?

Here is a common question. If psychic abilities such as precognition are reality why can’t anyone seem to pick winning lottery numbers? If psychic precognition is true, predicting winning lottery numbers should be commonplace. Why isn’t it happening? Skeptics roll their eyes, sigh, and say it’s because precognition doesn’t exist. That is the wrong answer.
The answer: People actually do predict winning lottery numbers.

The problem is with the question. We don’t understand precognition and other similar psychic phenomena. Precognition is not something anyone can call on at will. We assume some individuals can because of the claims of so-called psychics. Professional psychics are either scam artists, or have a natural talent but understand its limits even if they won’t admit it (bad for business).

Precognition and other psychic phenomena occur spontaneously and are generally uncontrollable. It just happens out-of-the-blue. Some people may never experience such a thing once in their entire lifetime, but for others it may happen fairly often. Precognition happens on its own terms, and why and when is a mystery.

Steve’s Story.

Of interest was a comment from the Steve, the blogger of the cool Ghostly Times. Here is what Steve wrote:

“I dreamed of the number 2895 and wondered why I would have that number pop up in a dream. 6 months later 2895 is the winning lottery numbers. I remember the dream. I start thinking about the dream and convince myself that I just had the dream and should have played the lottery. Was it a prophecy or coincidence?”

A straight pick-4 lottery number has a 1 in 10,000 chance of winning. Because a state lottery pays out only half of what the odds should provide (keeping the balance for its self) the prize is only $5,000. A very bad deal. Never the less, had Steve played both the mid-day and evening game for 6 months he would have bought 360 tickets at a cost of $360 and won 5K. A winning coincidence!

5 creepy Paintings That Predicted Real World Events

Source: Nostradamus Predictions

Predicting real world events has been a fixation for not only Nostradamus. Many individuals have seen through the fog of uncertainty to predict some of the world’s major events through either paintings or images. Whether you believe in seership or not, it is not difficult to see some form of foresight in these images.

1. Claire Fearon’s “Evolution 4” and the Japanese Earthquake

Major similarities can be seen between the shape of the nuclear reactor and its relation to the explosion when compared to the photograph below.

Henfield-based artist Clair Fearon does not normally paint scenes of disaster and destruction; she more commonly focuses on cheerful images of the natural world. However, a year before the disaster took place, the artist was compelled to paint the desolate and evocative “Evolution 4”, a painting that, in her words, was totally unlike her.

Even without the specific details, Evolution 4 still manages to evoke this particular image of the disaster.

Noted similarities include the shape of the reactor and the classic nuclear mushroom cloud, the wave of water at the bottom-left of the painting and the city on the horizon slipping into a crack in the earth.

2. Alex Grey’s “Gaia” and the September 11 Attacks

Only a specific part of Grey’s painting are reminiscent of the attacks.

Painted in 1989 by Ohio-born artist Alex Grey, Gaia was based upon a vision the painter had on the day his daughter was born. Grey has said how the painting was both hopeful and terrifying, with hope being represented by the blossoming left side of the canvas and desolation being represented by the right side.

On closer inspection, we can see two passenger planes headed towards the twin towers with smoke and flame nearby. In the other close up, we can see a man in a suit in league with a foreign solider.

3. The Adventures of Superman and the September 11 Attacks

The first panel shows a building similar to the Twin Towers partially destroyed.

During a story arc that involved aliens invading Metropolis, this image was painted to show the destruction the attacks had caused to the infrastructure of the city. The image in this panel is not actually the famous New York landmark, but the shape of the building is certainly evocative of the tragic event.

Later in the issue, damage to the actual Twin Towers can be seen. (Source)

What’s even more amazing is that this particular comic was released on September 12 2001, one day after the attacks on America. The publishers could do nothing about the timings and declared it a huge coincidence.

4. Max Beckmann’s Falling Man and the September 11 Attacks

Beckmann’s painting resembles the hugely evocative photographs of those who jumped from the Twin Towers as the fires raged inside.

Many of the attributes in Beckmann’s Falling Man mirror the terrible events that took place in New York in 2001. The burning buildings, the plumes of smoke and, of course, the falling body all make up a fairly reasonable account of that day.

The image remains one of the most memorable and startling photographs taken that day.

It has been noted that Beckmann’s Falling Man is a very figurative image, and that the character in his painting is representative of something else. Despite explanations, it is still shocking to see something so perfectly suited to highlighting the terror and tragedy portrayed in the actual photograph.

5. Willie Gardner’s Untitled Chalk Drawing and the September 11 Attacks

The drawing hung for 13 years in a Scottish back office.

Created by amateur artist Willie Gardener, this chalk drawing has many elements that link it to the terror attacks on New York. Two planes can be seen, as well as twin skyscrapers and the child depicted in the center of the picture has a definite look of uncertainty about her as she looks up towards the buildings.

A photograph showing a plane about to hit the second tower.

Mr. Gardener’s daughter has subsequently noted that her father showed no precognitive powers before he died, but she admits that the similarities between his picture and the events of that day are quite clear.

Whether you believe in the power of visions and seership or you think mass coincidence is at play here, it is impossible to deny that the works of art featured do bear an uncomfortable similarity to horrific and emotional world events. With that in mind, now could be a time to look to current artists who may have inadvertently predicted the future with their gift. You never know, the future might already be mapped out on a canvas somewhere near you.

Thailand's Flood Predicted by a Monk?

Thais can be a superstitious bunch of people. Whether it’s amulets or tattoos, many just do not want to take any chances. When it comes to political fortune telling, much attention is paid to the men, who have gained such wisdom to give a prophecy about how the balance of power will play out in the future. Some of them are (intentionally) cryptic, some are more concrete (but yet wrong) – nevertheless, such things regularly make the headlines in Thailand, as seen recently when former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was surveying the flooding situation in Sing Buri province:

(via Khao Sod Online)

(…) Abhisit paid respect to Phra Dharma Singha Bhurajarn (also known as Luang Pho Jaran) at Wat Amphawan (…) and to discuss the flood situation.

During the the discussion, Luang Pho Jaran asked if Abhisit or members of the press (…) have read the prophecies by Luang Pho Ruesi Ling Dam. (…) “If Thailand has a female prime minister, the country will take damage and have problems.” Thus, [Luang Pho Jaran told] Mr. Abhisit should take good care of himself, since he will surely be prime minister a second time. (…)

““หลวงปู่จรัญ” ยกคำทำนายฤาษีลิงดำทัก “มาร์ค” นั่งนายกฯรอบ2 เหตุผู้นำหญิงทำบ้านเมืองเสียหาย“, Matichon, September 16, 2011, translation by me

Now that sounds very concrete and something that Abhisit and like-minded people probably love to hear at the moment. But if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. When you look at another Thai newspaper, things kind of start to appear not the same way as they did at the beginning. Thai Rath ran the headline “Double premiership awaits, Mark rejoices, Ruesi Ling Dam predicts” and wrote in their subheader:

หลวงพ่อจรัญ ยกคำทำนายเกจิดังหลวงพ่อฤษีลิงดำ ทัก”มาร์ค”จะได้รีเทิร์นนายกรัฐมนตรีรอบสอง แนะรักษาเนื้อรักษาตัวให้ดี เพื่อจะได้กลับมาดูแลทุกข์สุขของประชาชน…

Luang Pho Jaran cites prophecy by Luang Pho Ruesi Ling Dam that “Mark” [Abhisit's nickname] will return as prime minister for a second time, advises him to take good care of himself in order to take care of the people again…

“ได้เบิ้ลนายกฯ มาร์คปลื้ม ฤษีลิงดำทำนาย“, Thai Rath, September 16, 2011

What To Do with Your Premonitions

By Stephen Wagner

In the weeks following the terrible events of September 11, 2001, I received dozens of e-mails from people who claimed to have had premonitions of the attacks days or even weeks before that fateful day. (See the article, "Visions of the 9/11 Attack.")

I'm not about to discount or dismiss those claims, but neither can I verify them. I have only the word of the authors that their claims of these premonitions are true. And therein lies the problem with the vast majority of alleged premonitions - they are not documented. Anyone can say they've had a premonition about a train wreck, World Series outcome or some other event after the fact. What makes them worthy of serious consideration is proof that you indeed had the premonition well before the event.

Psychic Parakeet Mani predicts Dutch Emerge Victory

A crowd of football fans lean forward as Mani, Singapore’s World Cup-forecasting parakeet, creeps out of his small wooden cage and chooses between two white cards - one hiding the flag of the Netherlands, the other Spain.

If the bird’s many new believers are right, Holland will win its first World Cup championship on Sunday. Mani grabbed a card in his beak on Friday and flipped it over to reveal the Dutch flag.

Picture is (C) copyright to The Hindu

Mani the parakeet (or parrot as we know them in India) is an astrologer's assistant in Singapore's Little India and has become quite the local celebrity when he correctly predicted the outcome of the quarterfinal ties as well as the semifinals.

Chomping on seeds and apples between cards, the Malaysian-born Mani hopped out of his cage and made a beeline for Uruguay, the Netherlands, Spain and Germany.

“People usually want help picking the lottery numbers, or when to get married,” said Muniyappan, who was born in India and moved to Singapore in 1953. “Then gamblers started asking about the World Cup.”

Muniyappan said about 30 people a day now pay for his psychic powers, up from about 10 a day before Mani shot to fame.

Paul VS Mani's Prediction of World Cup 2010

As Octopus Ponders Final Choice, Parrot Tips Dutch to Take World Cup

German, Dutch and Spanish television stations are preparing to broadcast live from an aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany, on Friday, when an octopus named Paul, whose handlers claim he can predict the outcome of World Cup soccer matches, will attempt to call the last two games of the tournament.

The spokesman for another animal with a growing reputation for soccer punditry, a parrot in Singapore named Mani — who has worked as a fortuneteller’s assistant for years — was far more confident about his associate’s abilities.

Speaking to a Reuters crew that visited Singapore’s Little India district on Thursday to film Mani’s prediction of Sunday’s World Cup final, Mani’s handler assured the news agency, “I believe 100 percent, whatever he picks will be right.” Mani, who normally helps customers predict the course of their romantic and financial lives, then stepped before the camera and turned over a card with the Dutch flag on it.

Psychic Phenomena Terminology

by Joan Seth

What constitutes a Psychic ? Can anyone claim to be one? Or can anyone be infused with so called Psychic abilities from a "Master"?

To be a termed Psychic , one would need to have exhibited Psychic abilities. These abilities include abilities to perceive information hidden from the normal senses or using your mind to influence the state of the physical world around you.

Here, we will examine closely what are the various types of Psychic abilities.

1) Telekinesis (or Psychokinesis)

The ability to move objects with your mind. Throughout the ages, self professed mediums or psychics have claimed to be telekinetic and have held demonstrations to move objects with their mind. Many such claims, under close examination and scrutiny, have revealed to be hoaxes. However, the famous psychic Uri Geller, was able to bend spoons just by focusing on them.

2) Telepathy

The ability to transfer thoughts to another person's mind from your mind. This may also be termed as Mind Reading. However, many magicians or fortune tellers who claim to read your mind are using Cold Reading techniques, that involve making high probability guesses about the subject. However, till date, no real experimental proof has been obtained of a person possessing such abilities.

3) Remote Viewing

Using your mind to gather information about a distant subject. People who exhibit such techniques claim to be able to see things in their mind, from a distance. Several police cases have indeed been solved by these so called Psychics. However, experts believe that the success rate is down to a combination of the following factors: clever deduction and pure luck.

4) Mediumship

A common practice found in many religions, this is the claimed ability to contact the spirits of the dead. Subsequently, communication, automatic writing and bodily possession are claimed to be able to be performed by the medium. Unfortunately, many sceptics doubt the reality of these abilities and most mediums are exposed to be frauds.

5) Precognition

To be able to see an event or acquire information from an event that will happen in the future. This ability is mostly exhibited while dreaming. People believe that they are either seeing signs of what will happen in the future, or actually seeing events that will happen in the future.

6) Psychometry (Token Object Reading)

The ability to obtain information about an individual through making physical contact with an object that belongs to that individual. People with such abilities are able to tell the history, background and other information about an object just by touching it.

7) Astral Projection (Out of Body Experience)

This is the ability to separate one's spirit or soul from one's body, and travel outside of the physical body, into the non-physical realm or astral plane. According to sceptics, the subjective nature of the experience permits explanations that do not rely on the existence of an "astral" body and plane. Critics also say that there is little evidence to support the idea that people can actually "leave the body".

Psychics predicted recent disasters in Asia

It was a few months ago when Filipino psychic Madam Suzette Arandela predicted natural disasters to happen and “will continue to take lives before the end of the year”.

A strong typhoon with international name Ketsana and local name Ondoy left more than a 100 dead in the capital region of Manila and nearby central Regions 3 and 4 in the Philippines, plus thousands displaced in the last few days of September due to typhoon Ondoy.

Still reeling from the effect of Ketsana, typhoon Pepeng pummeled northern Luzon which claimed some 16o dead plus some 70 missing due to the onslaught of the typhoon. This, aside from 300 million worth of damaged crops.

Printed in this blog last August, Arandela said, ‘Four strong typhoons will visit the country till November. Most affected parts are Metro Manila, central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Quezon Province and Batangas.”

This brings to nearly 600 the death toll due to the two recent typhoons, added up to the earlier sufferings caused in Manila. As this developed, aid from different parts of the world continue to be sent for the victims.
