Weretigers or Werecats in Asian Mythlogy

In the cultures of the West, Werewolves and Vampires are very much popular.
However in the East, where Asians lived in, it is instead more about Weretigers.

While werewolves were thought to be the predators of vampire by nature but however, most of the time these predators are in the control of their prey, the Vampires in most stories.

So , Werewolves are by nature predators of Vampires and in turn the are the prey to their predators , the Weretigers whom are mostly Asian, their distant cousin!

We have all heard of the werewolf. The werewolf has a distant cousin, so to speak. Not as well known outside of Asia, is a mythical creature called a weretiger, also more recently known as a werecat. Before the late 19th century they were all known as weretigers. They are not to be mistaken for the spirit tiger which is a familiar under the control of a supernatural being or a “nat”. The familiar is used to do the bidding of the nat.

The Malaysian Dragon or Naga (Draco naga) – are species found in the East Indies – modern day Malaysia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea which has been long feared by Malay mariners who called it the Naga.

The Malaysian Dragon has been known to reach lengths of 30 feet, thrice the length of the largest known Komodo Dragons. Unlike the Komodo Dragon, the Malaysian Dragon is comfortable at sea and on land, much in the manner of the Arabian Dragon of Red Sea areas. It preys on all manner of wildlife, including forest hogs, birds, deer, fish, sea snakes, crabs, and yes humans.

This dangerous of the dragons, are constant bane to fishermen in the region, often striking small fishing craft with tremendous force, throwing the occupants in the water to be consumed. They are no less a danger in the jungle and in isolated villages, and have discouraged settlement in some of the more remote regions of the archipelago.

They are known to be responsible for many deaths, even into the 20th century they were known to kill explorers and anthropologists working in New Guinea and downed Japanese and Allied aviators in the region during the Second World War. One popular theory has it that a Naga ate Amelia Earhart in her abortive world flight, though in truth where she perished is well out of their known range.

This dragon once ranged into the southern Philippines, but a concerted effort by the United States military resulted in their eradication in the first few decades of the 20th century, after a number of servicemen were eaten during the Philippine Insurrection. There was a plan by the CIA during the Vietnam War to attempt to populate the species in North Vietnam, to deny the Gulf of Tongking to North Vietnamese fishermen and present a threat to shipping. Howard Hughes was even involved, and constructed a special ship, the St. George, to carry them to the region, but the plan was aborted (though provided Hughes’ company valuable experience for the later Glomar Explorer, used to salvage a sunken Soviet sub).

I have Been to Hell ( Burmese Monk who became Christain )

A Vision that Changed My Life Forever

After I was discharged from the hospital I went back to the monastery where other monks cared for me. I grew weaker and weaker and was lapsing into unconsciousness. I learned later that I actually died for three days. My body decayed and stunk of death, and my heart stopped beating. My body was prepared for cremation and was put through traditional Buddhist purification rites.

Although I faded away in my body I remember my mind and spirit were fully alert. I was in a very, very powerful storm. A tremendous wind flattened the whole landscape until there were no trees or anything else standing, just a flat plain. I walked very fast along this plain for some time. There were no other people anywhere, I was all alone. After some time I crossed a river. On the other side of the river I saw a terrible, terrible lake of fire. In Buddhism we do not have a concept of a place like this. At first I was confused and didn't know it was hell until I saw Yama, the king of hell [Yama is the name ascribed to the King of Hell in numerous cultures throughout Asia]. His face looked like the face of a lion, his body was like a lion, but his legs were like a naga [serpent spirit]. He had a number of horns on his head. His face was very fierce, and I was extremely afraid. Trembling, I asked him his name. He replied, "I am the king of hell, the Destroyer."

The terrible, terrible lake of fire

The king of hell told me to look into the lake of fire. I looked and I saw the saffron colored robes that Buddhist monks wear in Myanmar. I looked closer and saw the shaven head of a man. When I looked at the man's face I saw it was U Zadila Kyar Ni Kan Sayadaw [the famous monk who had died in a car accident in 1983]. I asked the king of hell why my former leader was confined to this lake of torment. I said, "Why is he in this lake of fire? He was a very good teacher. He even had a teaching tape called 'Are You a Man or a Dog?' which had helped thousands of people understand that their worth as humans is far greater than the animals." The king of hell replied, "Yes, he was a good teacher but he did not believe in Jesus Christ. That's why he is in hell."

I was told to look at another person who was in the fire. I saw a man with very long hair wrapped on the left hand side of his head. He was also wearing a robe. I asked the king of hell, "Who is this man?" He replied, "This is the one you worship: Gautama [Buddha]." I was very disturbed to see Gautama in hell. I protested, "Gautama had good ethnics and good moral character, why is he suffering in this lake of fire?" The king of hell answered me, "It doesn't matter how good he was. He is in this place because he did not believe in the Eternal God."

I then saw another man who looked like he was wearing a soldier's uniform. He had a large wound on his chest. I asked, "Who is this man?" The king of hell said, "This is Aung San, the revolutionary leader of Myanmar." I was told, "Aung San is here because he persecuted and killed Christians, but mostly because he didn't believe in Jesus Christ." In Myanmar the people have a common saying, "Soldiers never die, they live on." I was told that the legions of hell have a saying "Soldiers never die, but they go to hell forever."

I looked and saw another man in the lake of fire. He was a very tall man and he was dressed in military armor. He was also holding a sword and a shield. This man had a wound on his forehead. This man was taller than any person I have ever seen. He was six times the length between a man's elbow and the tips of his fingers when he stretches his arm out straight, plus one span of a man's fingers when he spreads out his hand. The king of hell said, "This man's name is Goliath. He is in hell because he blasphemed the Eternal God and His servant David." I was confused because I didn't know who either Goliath or David were. The king of hell said, "Goliath is recorded in the Christian Bible. You don't know him now, but when you become a Christian you will know who he is."

I was then taken to a place where I saw both rich and poor people preparing to eat their evening meals. I asked, "Who cooked the food for these people?" The king of hell replied, "The poor have to prepare their own food, but the rich people get others to cook for them." When the food had been prepared for the rich people they sat down to eat. As soon as they started a thick smoke came up. The rich people ate as fast as they could to ease their consciences. They were struggling to breath because of the smoke. They had to eat fast because they were fearful of losing their money. Their money is their god.

Another king of hell then came to me. I also saw a being whose job is to stoke the fires beneath the lake of fire, to keep it hot. This being asked me, "Are you going into the lake of fire too?" I replied, "No! I am only here to observe!" The appearance of this creature stoking the fire was very terrifying. He had ten horns on his head and a spear in his hand that had seven sharp blades coming from the end. The creature told me, "You are right. You came here just to observe. I cannot find your name here." He said, "You must now go back the way you came." He pointed me toward the desolate plain that I had first walked along before I came to the lake of fire.

The Road of Decision

I walked a long time, until I was bleeding. I was hot and in great pain. Finally, after walking for about three hours I came to a wide road. I walked along this road for some time until I came to a fork. One road, going off to the left, was wide. A smaller road went off to the right hand side. There was a signpost at the fork saying that the road to the left was for those who do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. The smaller road to the right was for believers in Jesus.

I was interested to see where the larger road led so I started down it. There were two men walking about 300 yards ahead of me. I tried to catch up with them so I could walk with them but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't catch them up, so I turned around and went back to the fork in the road. I continued to watch these two men as they walked down the road away from me. When they reached the end of the road they were suddenly stabbed. These two men cried out in great pain! I also cried out when I saw what happened to them! I realized the bigger road ended in great danger for those who traveled down it.

Looking into Heaven

I started walking down the believers' road instead. After traveling for about one hour the surface of the road turned to pure gold. It was so pure that when I looked down I could see my own reflection perfectly. I then saw a man standing in front of me. He was wearing a white robe. I also heard beautiful singing. Oh, it was so beautiful and pure! It was much better and more meaningful than the worship we have in churches here on the earth. The man in the white robe asked me to walk with him. I asked him, "What is your name?" but he did not answer. After I asked his name six times the man answered, "I am the one who holds the key to heaven. Heaven is a very, very beautiful place. You cannot go there now but if you follow Jesus Christ you can go there after your life has finished on the earth." The man's name was Peter.

Peter then asked me to sit down and he showed me a place to the north. Peter said, "Look to the north and see God create man." I saw the Eternal God from a distance. God spoke to an angel, "Let us make man." The angel pleaded with God and said, "Please don't make man. He will do wrong and will grieve you." [In Burmese literally: "He will make you lose face."]. But God created a man named anyway. God blew on the man and the man came to life. He gave him the name "Adam". [Note: Buddhists do not believe in the Creation of the world or of man, so this experience had a significant impact on the monk].

Sent Back with a New Name

Then Peter said, "Now get up and go back to where you came from. Speak to the people who worship Buddha and who worship idols. Tell them they must go to hell if they don't change. Those who build temples and idols will also have to go to hell. Those who give offerings to the monks to earn merit for themselves with go to hell. All those who pray to the monks and call them 'Pra' [respectful title for monks] will go to hell. Those who chant and 'give life' to idols will go to hell. All those who don't believe in Jesus Christ will go to hell." Peter told me to go back to the earth and testify about the things I had seen. He also said, "You must speak in your new name. From now on you are to be called Athet Pyan Shinthaw Paulu ["Paul who Came Back to Life."].

I didn't want to go back. I wanted to go to heaven. Angels opened a book. First they looked for my childhood name (Thitpin) in the book, but they could not find it. They then looked for the name I had been given when he entered the Buddhist monk hood (U Nata Pannita Ashinthuriya) but it wasn't written in the book either. Then Peter said, "Your name is not written here, you must return and testify about Jesus to the Buddhist people."

I walked back along the gold road. Again I heard beautiful singing, the kind of which I have never heard before or since. Peter walked with me until the time I returned to the earth. He showed me a ladder that reached down from the heaven to the sky. The ladder didn't reach to the earth, but stopped in mid-air. On the ladder I saw many angels, some going up to heaven and some going down the ladder. They were very busy. I asked Peter, "Who are they?" Peter answered, "They are messengers of God. They are reporting to heaven the names of all those who believe in Jesus Christ and the names of those who don't believe." Peter then told me it was time to go back.

It is a Ghost!

The next thing I was aware of was the sound of weeping. I heard my own mother cry out, "My son, why did you leave us now?" I also heard many other people weeping. I realized I was lying in a box. I started to move. My mother and father started shouting, "He is alive! He is alive!" Other people who were farther away did not believe my parents. I then placed my hands on the sides of the box and sat upright. Many people were struck with terror. They cried out, "It is a ghost!" and ran away as fast as their legs could carry them.

Those who remained were speechless and trembling. I noticed I was sitting in smelly liquid and body fluids, enough to fill about three and a half cups. This was liquid that had come out of my stomach and my insides while my body was lying in the coffin. This is why people knew I had indeed been dead. Inside the coffin there was a type of plastic sheet fixed to the wood. This sheet is placed there to retain a corpse's liquids, because many dead bodies release much fluid like mine did.

I learned later that I was just moments away from being cremated in the flames. In Myanmar people are placed in a coffin, the lid is then nailed shut, and the whole coffin is burned. When I came back to life my mother and father were being allowed to look at my body for the very last time. Moments later the lid of my coffin would have been nailed shut and I would have been cremated!

I immediately started to explain the things I had seen and heard. People were astonished. I told them about the men I had seen in the lake of fire, and told them that only the Christians know the truth, that our forefathers and us have been deceived for thousands of years! I told them everything we believe is a lie. The people were astonished because they knew what kind of a monk I had been and how zealous I had been for the teachings of Buddha.

In Myanmar when a person dies their name and age is written on the side of the coffin. When a monk dies, the monk's name, age and the number of years he has served as a monk are written on the side of the coffin. I had already been recorded as dead but as you can see, now I am alive!

Epilogue

Since 'Paul who came back to life' experienced the above story he has remained a faithful witness to the Lord Jesus Christ. Burmese pastors have told us that he had led hundreds of other monks to faith in Christ. His testimony is obviously very uncompromising. Because of that, his message has offended many people who cannot accept there is only one Way to Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ. Despite great opposition, his experiences were so real to him that he has not wavered. After many years in the Buddhist monk hood, as a strict follower of Buddhist teachings, he immediately proclaimed the Gospel of Christ following his resurrection and exhorted other monks to forsake all false gods and follow Jesus Christ with all their hearts. Before the time of his sickness and death he had no exposure to Christianity at all. Everything he learned during those three days in the grave was new to his mind.

In a bid to get his message out to as many people as possible, this modern-day Lazarus began distributing audio and video cassette tapes with his story on them. The police and Buddhist authorities in Myanmar have done their utmost to gather these tapes up and destroy them. The testimony you have just read has been translated form one of those cassette tapes. We are told it is now quite dangerous for citizens of Myanmar to be in possession of these tapes.

His fearless testimony has landed him in prison at least once, where the authorities failed in their bid to silence him. Upon his release he continued to testify of the things he saw and heard. His current whereabouts are uncertain. One Burmese informant told us he is prison and may have been killed, while another informant was told he is now released from prison and is continuing his ministry.

Ethnic Chinese Groups Vampires ( 中华僵尸)

Despite that Egypt and India has been considered the birthplace of the vampire. However , the home of the vampire is actually from Tibet. The Greece's Santorini island is traditionally the most vampire-infested place in the world

Contradict speaking, European Sources claimed that the world's first vampire was from China ! In the past, based on many ancient European sources, it has been firmly believed by many that Vampires originated from China and it was through the silk road it next spread over into India followed by the middle east , then the Mediterranean eventually into the whole of Europe.

Chinese vampires is being known as the Jiang Shi. The types of Vampires in China can varies from the different region , provinces & even Ethnic groups. Chinese Vampires has many variations. The below 2 would some examples.

The Beheaded Vampire

This a vampire whose head has been chop off ! The head flies around during the night constantly seeking for it's own body with the objective of uniting with it's own original body.

By itself, this flying head is a vampire and is very powerful. Do bare in mind that this beheaded vampire must never reunite with a body. This is because once it does, it will become even far much more powerful and unstoppable than before. You will have to once again separate it from the body and separately destroy the body and head in order to fully destroy it.

Sometimes it can operate separately ! The head is looking for the body and the body is looking for it's own head. However this is not in every case.

There are also cases where which this head will seek for substitute body. In such cases, this substitute will be from a living human.

Blood Demon (血魔)

Very little is known about this demon. What is known is that this demon is far much more superior than the vampire. Vampires in comparison with this Blood Demon (血魔) is considered to be very inferior. Even a gang of vampires cannot defeat one single Blood Demon (血魔) at all !

The Blood Demon (血魔) comprises from the element of blood. It has been said that it was a ill fated human who led a life of misery, Hate, anger, and vengeance whom under some form of encounters that had him transformed into a demon of blood element which is known to be as the Blood Demon (血魔).

When a blood curse from this Blood Demon (血魔) is being casted on it's victim, The victim will become extremely insanely murderous, merciless , brutal, cruel & violent. This victim will have inhumanly behavior like some unleashed beast or monster that cannot be contained. He or She will have a Strong passion for killing and loves the sight of blood.

There are only 56 Ethnic groups which are being classified and categorized as the official and recognized ethnic groups of mainland China. Any other Ethnic groups who do not belong to this 56 are considered to be as unofficial and unrecognized in China.

Let's have a look a few of these various vampires of the different ethnic Chinese groups or different Chinese regions.

Ethnic Manchurian Chinese Vampire

The Most common Vampires known to most of us from the media is the Ethnic Manchurian Chinese Vampires which is very zombie like and it jumps and hops around. They rise from their graves or coffins to find victims. They don't speak human languages as they communicate with one another in their own vampire language. Their body is very stiff and hard. They also do not feel any pain.

Aniukha
Mongolian God of Time
Mongolian Death Worm ( Sometimes considered to be as a Vampire)

Aniukha

This Ethnic Mongolian Chinese vampire, Aniukha is the spirit of a shaman who has used his power to return from the dead. All shamans have returned from the dead once: a ritual death and rebirth is part of their initiation into becoming a shaman.

However, even though the shaman exists on the threshold between life and death, he is expected to use the powers this grants him only for the good of his community. When he uses these powers for his own ends, he can become a fearsome being indeed. Once a shaman has become an Aniukha, the best way to dispose of him is to drive an aspen stake through his corpse and then cremate him

Ethnic Tibetan Chinese Vampires

The below would be a list of some of Vampire types from the Tibet province of China.

1) Bhagavan Vajra Heruka
2) Vajra Krotishaurima
3) Ratna-Herucka
4) Padma-Heruka
5) Dark-Green Ghasmari
6) Kerimas
7) The Lotus Order
8) Dakini
9) Khadro
10) Tibetan Lord of Death
11) Yama the Tibetan Devil

China's province of Tibet and many of the other regions of China is just like India as in that they possesses rich pantheon of supernatural entities and that many of them had some form of vampiric qualities. Much of it was also shared with neighboring nations such as Nepal, Sikkim, Mongolia and many more.

As for the Tibetans, the most visible of the vampiric entities were the so-called Wrathful Deities who appeared in The Tibetan Book of the Dead. This volume described what Tibetan Buddhists believed would be experienced by individuals in the days immediately following their death.

During these days, the deceased generally wandered into an area dominated by karma (the law of consequences) where the higher impulses of the heart gave way to the reasonings of the brain centers. The heart impulses were personified by the Peaceful Deities.

The brain reasonings were personified by the Wrathful Deities. Contemporary writers on Tibetan Buddhism have generally emphasized that the deities were not objectively real, but were the products of the person picturing aspects of the self. However, in traditional Buddhist lore, they were pictured as part of a true supernatural realm.

The Wrathful Deities are also known as the 58 blood-drinking deities, these vampires were figures representing the brain's reason and the deceased's vampire activities, which appeared to the spirit of the recently dead from the eight day onwards whilst they wandered the karma-dominated zones of the afterlife in Buddhist teachings. These include:
Bhagavan Vajra- Heruka, Vajra-Krotishaurima, Ratna-Herucka, Padma-Heruka, Dark-Green Ghasmari, plus Eight Kerimas and The Lotus Order.

For example, the blood-drinking deities of the Vajra order appeared on the ninth day. Here the intellect was represented by Bhagavan Vajra-Heruka. In one hand he held a human scalp. He was embraced by his mother, Vajra-Krotishaurima, whose right hand held a red shell filled with blood that she placed at her son's mouth.

On the next day, one encountered Ratna-Heruka, who appeared like Vajra-Heruka, but was yellow rather than blue. The red Padma-Heruka appeared on the eleventh day. On the twelfth day, the blood-drinking deities of the Lotus Order were encountered. On the thirteenth day, the eight Kerimas were encountered. These deities had the heads of various animals and engaged in different vampiric and ghoulish actions.

One, the Dark-Green Ghasmari, for example, held a scalp filled with blood that she stirred with a dorje (a holy object) then drank from it. Other similar deities appeared daily throughout the fourteenth day. The dying person was given instructions on relating to the deities and prayers to acknowledge them. Individuals were also told to call upon the name of their own guru and their personal deity to sustain them in the loneliness of the after-death realms. It should be noted that these deities did not attack the individual who encountered them, rather they were pictured as general representations of vampiric actions previously committed by the deceased.

Dakini

A terrible and beautiful demi-goddess from the Tibetan tradition. The Dakinis appear to a person during the process of dying, and they are part of the long visionary journey that ensues after physical death and before the deceased chooses to reincarnate.

The Dakinis are ambivalent beings for they appear in frightening and terrible forms to the deceased, but only in order to get the dead person to address issues about his past life and resolve his attachments so he can move on to a higher existence. Many of the Dakinis are vampyric in nature, being described as naked women, sometimes with the heads of animals, who drink blood from chalices made of human skulls.

The Dakinis appear with the “peaceful and wrathful deities,” beings who, like the Dakinis, exhibit ghastly vampyric natures in an attempt to convince the deceased of the impermanency of the flesh.

Tibetan Lord of Death

The Tibetan Lord of Death, who, like the Nepalese Lord of Death and the Mongolian God of Time, subsisted by drinking the blood of sleeping people. This Tibetan god had a green face and a blue-green body. In his clawed hand he held the Wheel of Life.

The Nepalese god had three blood-shot eyes with flames issuing from his eyebrows and thunder and lightning from his nostrils. In his hands, he carried a sword and a cup of blood. He was decorated with human skulls. The Mongolian god, with his prominent canine teeth, was seen amidst a storm over a bloody sea.

There was also a belief in the pursuit of the living by the dead. The dead were cremated, in part, to prevent the soul from attempting to re-enter it. The soul after death, like person before death, became the object of ritual, in this case to keep it from interacting improperly with the realm of the living.

Sikkim Vampire

Sikkim is a neighbor to Tibet and during early eighteenth century, Princess Pedi Wangmo, the monarch's half-sister, plotted to kill her half-brother. With the assistance of a Tibetan doctor, she bled Chador Namgyal to death and drank his blood. She escaped the palace but was soon caught. Both she and her accomplice were killed. It was believed, by some, that after death she became a vampire. Her story was recounted in a fresco in a monastery in Sinon near Mt. Kanchenjunga.

Regions, Provinces and Neighbors' Vampires of China

In fact, much of the vampires from India, Nepal and Bhutan can also be found in Tibet. Some of the Tibetan vampires can be found in her neighboring nations or regions.

As for the province of Yunan, much of the Thai (Siamese) and Myanmar ( Burma) vampires can also be found there and likewise some of the Chinese vampires from Yunan province can also be found in Indo-China , Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand ( Siam).

For the province of Xinjiang where the Ugyhur ethnic group are one of the main and biggest groups in that region, it is very likely that the vampires there are mainly those Turkish and Middle eastern Vampires types.

In the province of Heilongjiang which borders Manchuria region, and Mongolia as well as Russia, There, lies many Ethnic Russian Chinese and hence Russian Vampires can also be found near that region of China.

Jungle protection against supernatural beings

To the average villager the deep jungle is a fearsome place; not only do wild animals of every descrip tion lurk in its recesses, it is also a place over whose wide reaches a variety of supernatural beings hold sway. Nats or animistic spirits are believed to inhabit the jungle and to exercise dominion over various sections of it; for example the taw-zaunk-nat is the guardian spirit of the forest, the taung-zaunk-nat is the guardian spirit of the mountain, the ywa-zaunk-nat is the guardian spirit of the village, and the yokkerzoe-nats are guardian spirits that have taken up their abode in particular gigantic trees in the forest.

The pangolin, believed by many to be the shape assumed by the spirits of the jungle

The animistic spirits are either benign (nat kaunn) or malevolent (nat hsoe), and since different forests and different mountains have different guardian spirits there is room for considerable variation in this regard. Even the most ill-disposed of nats, however, may be won over by appropriate offerings of food and flowers, and since many are the infractions of taboos that may occur, the appeasement or propitiation of these minor deities becomes a major preoccupation of many jungle villagers.

Among the various pro hibitions and pre scriptions to be observed in the jungle are: don’t defecate or urinate at will and without regard to your surroundings; in particular avoid soiling the locality of huge trees that may harbour a tree-spirit.

Don’t call anyone by his proper name, otherwise the spirits will overhear and use it to call him farther and farther into the depths of the forest until he finally loses his bearings and is unable to return. The spirits in this case are believed to assume the shape of the pangolin (thinn-ngwae-chut).

In certain areas such as the Zeebingyi Range near Pyin Oo Lwin the number of persons in a travelling party should never equal nine. Any number above or below that is acceptable, but if exactly nine people go on a trip together they are bound to meet with dire consequences.

Accordingly, if it should turn out to be impossible to avoid having nine persons in the group, the shikari will pick up a piece of rock, name it Ko Kyauk Khair (Mr Rock), and take it along, bringing the total to 10 and thus averting disaster.

The jungle villager is a great believer in omens, divinations and prognostications: if a crow defecates on you it is a sign of good luck; if bees construct a hive under the eaves of your house it is an evil portent; if a snake crosses the jungle path in front of you it is a sign that you will have a long and fruitless journey; if you find mushrooms along the route of march you can expect good fortune; if a weapon that you have stood up against a tree or rock falls down, it is a bad omen, and so on.

One of the first things that your guide or shikari will do upon entering the forest is to “petition the jungle” (taw-taung-mair). This is done in a brief ceremony in which offerings of pickled tea, boiled eggs, rice and sundry items of food are placed on a makeshift bamboo altar, before which are laid all the weapons in the party including rifles, cartridges and knives. Lighted candles are placed on the altar and either the shikari or one of the older villagers will kneel before it to invoke the aids of the nats in bringing success to the day’s hunt.

Prayers are sometimes said, not only to make the guns more lethal but also to entreat the spirits to make the game appear. When asking for dangerous game such as tiger two modes of petition may be employed; the first is called lermaing-lay “the lesser spell” in which the presence of the tiger is requested, but without any of the attendant risks; the second called lermaing-jee or “the greater spell” calls for the production of the animal, regardless of the danger involved; in fact the phrase “thu-thae-ko-thae” “Let it die or let me die” is used in the invocation, embodying your request that only one of the two of you survive the encounter.

What ARE Myanmar Vampires all about

Among one of the most Fierce Vampires in the continent of Asia are those of India, Thailand and Myanmar.

Thaye - Tases

Thaye or Tasei were disembodied evil spirits with appearances of people that are tall , dark, huge ears, long tongues and tusk-like teeth. They resided near villages at the local cemeteries. On occasion they assumed characteristics of vampires and ghouls and fed on corpses or went into the village to attack living people. They entered the towns during the noon or by dark and causes minor illness.

Most of the Myanmar vampires were when human, evil ! The thaye / tasei, were malevolent ghosts that because of their evil earthly life, condemned to their disembodied state until they had worked out their karmic difficulties and were eventually reborn into another body. These disembodied ghosts, at times, took on a kind of visible materiality.

In the folklore, protection from ghosts was provided by a Lehpwe, an amulet for a variety of purposes. One such amulet consisted of a drawing of an elephant made from the letters of the Myanmar alphabet. Popular in earlier centuries was tattooing of the body in the area between the navel and the knee. There were also specific rituals to banish ghosts from a village, both brief ones for individual use and longer ones for the community.

Akathaso

It is an evil tree-spirit similar to the Yara-Ma-Yha!

They are natss (spirits) who inhabit trees in Burmese folklore. They are believed to live on the tops of trees, and are guardians of the sky. Yokkhaso and bhummaso are are also nats that live on the trunks and roots of the trees respectively.

Kephn

KEPHN is one of the Burmese Vampires species that's both a Vampire as well as a powerful Sorcerer. Among the Karen tribes of Burma generally linked to sorcery, Kephn is in the shape of a floating head and stomach and it's preferred meal is the human soul.

The description of the Kephn is very similar to the 'Penanggalan of Malysia/Indonesia and the Phii Krasue of Thailand. This Sorcerer which has a pact with the demonic forces, transforms at the dead of night into a ghoulish floating head and stomach. When in this new apparition shape, the Kephn sucks the souls of the living and can even transport these souls into the bodies of the long deceased - creating zombie slaves.

The Kephn are incredibly strong and deceptively crafty. They can be easily disposed of in the daytime ( when still in the form of the human sorcerer which summoned it), decapitation and immediate cremation is recommended.

When this brutal creature roams the night in the full supernatural splendor, it's best to hunt it with a team of up to a dozen prepared and well armed people. Decapitation and burning the remains is still the most noted course of action.

The only human being known to have been able to defeat a Kephn in one-on-one combat was a Ghurka, a well trained Burmese soldier, using a superbly crafted KUKRI KNIFE based on legends.

TASE

Another Evil Burmese creatures is the TASE ! This psychic entities are difficult to distinguish between a vampire or a ghost. They are a breed of blood drinking specters associated with spreading plague and disease.

Actually, there are three subspecies of the Tase, the first and most rare among is the Hminza-Tase. It is a demon which possesses the bodies of animals such as owls, crocodiles, tigers or other creatures, and then slaughters the species. Afterwards it proceeds to lure humans into remote parts of the woods, rip them to pieces and drink their blood.

The second subspecies is the Thabet-Tase, consisting of the angry spirit of woman who has died in childbirth. They feed of the sexual energies of men, especially in their sleep, and delight in trying to stop newly married couples from having any children.

The third is the Thaye-Tase, disgusting giants which spread disease, and are believed to be trapped spirits who've gone insane from being stuck between planes of existence.

Swawmx

Despite involved in much vampiric activities, A Swawmx is likely to be a Vampire Deity worshiped by the Burmese.

What are Thai Vampires all about? ( อะไรคือ Vampires ไทยทั้งหมดเกี่ยวกับ? )

Among the Vampires of Asia, Thai/Myanmar and India Vampires are among one of the most ferocious ones of Asia.

Phii / Phi- ( Other names : Phii Song Nang - Phii Krasue)

The Phii was one of countless spirits from Thai mythology. Phi were believed to inhabit the countryside and were the ghosts of people killed by animals, women died in childbirth, dead people who did not have proper funeral rites, and those sudden unexpected deaths. These were the sources of various forms of attacks including vampirism. They bit, scratched, and caused disease.

For the Various occult practitioners, the ways of the Phii were pretty well known to them. Maw Du or a Seer would be called upon cases where a person had been attacked by the Phii. The Maw Dus will use various spells and incantation to get rid of the phi. They also sold charms to prevent the attack of the phi.

Phii Song Nang

Phii Song Nang is basically identical to the Pontianak of Indonesia and Malaysia. They appeared as beautiful young women and attacked and vampirized young men. A seer or 'Maw Du' can be called upon to make spells and incantations to get rid of this Phii.

Phii Krasue

The Phii Krasue is a very scary ghost in Thai mythology. The Phii Krasue is very similar to the Pelagganan of Malaysia and Kappa of Japan as in that it It is a flying head with entrails hanging from below. It has a voracious hunger for blood and intestines and a tendency to feed from people's bottoms with its long tongue. It uses its long flicking tongue to lick the dead carcass and sharp teeth to chew on it. It has a similarity with a ghost type from Malaysia called the penanggalan

The Phii Krasue is a phenomenon which has some similarities to the vampires of Eastern Europe in that it is an ‘undead’ creature that exists by drinking the blood of the living. It often takes the shape of a handsome man or beautiful woman in order to lure its victims.

Unlike the Manananggal of the Philippines, the Penanggalan of Malaysia/Indonesia the Nukekubi of Japan, a Phii Krasue cannot be killed/destroyed. Destruction of its carcass is ineffectual, as its spirit will transmigrate to another body. But, to the very maximum it can be temporarily disabled by wounds to its physical body.

The only way to be permanently rid of a Phii Krasue is to appease the spirit that inhabits it. Since a Phii Krasue is created by an intense desire for revenge at the moment of death, the way to appease it is to find out what wrong has been done, and to right it. If this can be achieved, the spirit will be free to be reborn to a new life in the natural cycle of reincarnation.
