Part 3 - Demonic Zombies

We talk about zombie reproduction here, but obviously they cannot reproduce in the conventional way. So how are zombies created?

In the historical sense, Haitian Voodoo magic practitioners have long claimed that they are able to revive a dead person. They do this by capturing the zombi astral, which is a part of the human soul. It is believed that after a time God will take the soul back and so the zombi is a temporary spiritual entity.

However, if we look at it in a scientific manner, it is rather quite possible to induce a "zombie-like" state in a living person. Clairvius Narcisse was a Haitian man said to have been turned into a living zombie with the use of a combination of drugs.

According to reports, Narcisse was given a combination of drugs to induce a "death" state in him. His pulse and heart rate dropped till near zero, yet he was still alive. After his "death" and burial, he was recovered by a Voodoo priest and was given a hallucinogenic drug which can cause memory loss. He was then forced to work for the priest as a slave.

In the Spanish movie REC, a reporter follows a team of fire men to investigate a series of strange happenings in a block of flats. It turns out that some of the residents have been infected with what was thought to be a viral contagion. These victims exhibit aggressive and cannibalistic behavior. This zombie infection also spreads through contact with a infected person's blood.

In the sequel REC 2 which is set immediately after the first movie, it is discovered that the original infected victim was actually possessed by a demon. The victim was then turned into a zombie creature by the demon, and that the spread of the zombie infection was actually a spread of the demonic influence.

The classic horror movie, the Evil Dead, features zombie-like creatures called Deadites. The main characters unwittingly activate the Necronomicon, the Book of the Dead, which caused demons to be released onto Earth. The demons then possess dead bodies, effectively turning them into zombies.

In the film Dead Snow and the game Call of Duty: Zombies, the zombies are actually former Nazi Germany soldiers. The main characters have to fight off zombies who have the characteristics of Nazi soldiers.

There had been reports and rumours that during World War II, Nazi Germany was looking into occult practices to aid in their war effort. Creating a army of zombies could have been one serious thought, as it would had been unstoppable.
